Recap: [Virtual] India, May 24, GAAD 2025 - Global Accessibility Meet-up

As part of the GAAD 2025 meetups celebrations by @EmekaUlor , I had hosted this virtual meet-up. This meet-up is also a part of #MapsForAll series that focuses on mapping with Accessibility and Inclusion in our minds ! The best part about this meet-up was that it was more of a candid talk amongst all the Local Guides on how we have been contributing so far towards accessibility and well we could contribute towards accessibility so that we all can together make a greater impact in this world !

It was amazing to see the enthusiasm of all attendees and some of the Q&A made us really think and do some brainstorming about the Accessibility issues we would face during mapping some of the Accessibility features !

Some of the questions or points that made us all think and have a great discussion were -

  1. How can we update temporary changes in Maps - like if a lift is not working in a hotel or a Mall? Is there a way in Maps? - by @AjitThite
  2. How can we make sure the ramp is of the required standards? by @RosyKohli
  3. Lets make sure we add if there are raillings , walkers , etc available at a place - A suggestion given by @shaileno
  4. Lets make sure the business owners know about basic accessibility efatures they could add in their business - a suggestion by Emeka
  5. Lets have more such meetups that highlight Accessibility - a suggestion by Santosh

Special Thanks to Emeka and @ChinonsoOnukwugha for shariung their journey as part of the #OneAccessibility team ! I am a proud member of the team and it was so good to connect on our favorite Maps topic to contribute towards and share our journies ! The session was really interesting and it was good to see the eagerness of all the attenddes to contribute towards Accessibility ! Together we all can make a positive impact ! #LocalGuides #LetsGuide

Discription- thanks a lot for organize & host this funtastic meet-up @Globe_trotter_Ish & Thanks @AjitThite दादा for reminding the meet-up on time.
& The only reason for speaking in Hindi was that I wanted to see who could understand my point by breaking the language barrier. Accessibility awareness is global, & world is many tredition & culture The problem of language is the biggest lack of awareness, & once again thank you very much for understanding my point of view & explained @Globe_trotter_Ish :folded_hands:
