This is a recap of the meet-up I have organised on 30th Sep 2020. As the title suggests UW(Unity Walk): Spam Free Maps, here Unity Walk refers to a campaign started by Indian Local Guides and the mission was to make the Maps spam free. It means in this meetup we were supposed to filter out the spam/inappropriate materials, such as spammed photos, spammed/inappropriate reviews, spammed videos, places, etc.
I am attaching few collages I have created using the screenshot during the meetup.
Above images highlight the spammed images and videos from different locations on the maps, few images and videos are not relevant to exact places. Few images shows that a single photo is uploaded multiple times.
Not only images and videos have been spammed but the same is with the reviews. Look at these reviews.
Here first review shows a single star rating but it says Nice as a review. The same is with the second review, the review is of a bank and the reviewer has mentioned “welcome to bank”, which clearly shows it is a spam review.
Now, I am adding a final collage for this post, which shows the screenshots I have taken during the meet-up. It will help you reporting such spammed connect I have mentioned earlier to make Maps more informative and accessible.
