Dear LGs,
I am writing this recap of my UW – Anna Nagar Spam Free Maps meetup to highlight how I did my “small” bit to make Google Maps Spam Free. This virtual meetup was organized to identify and report Spam Photos, Videos and fake reviews in Anna Nagar Area in Chennai, India so that Google maps is more useful for everyone. This meetup was part of the larger initiative of India Local Guides community, with help and support from @TravellerG , @AmbrishVarshney and @NareshDarji . They helped with very detailed write up and videos on how to report spam in Google Maps.
I started by reviewing the photos, videos and reviews of a School nearby my place. I found that school kids have uploaded quite a few selfies in Google Maps. Selfies can pose privacy issues and generally they are not relevant to place. Since I saw these selfies uploaded for this school, I started to find similar spam photos in schools and collages in and around Anna Nagar area.
Below are some sample photos that I have reported.
There was also one funny photo by a naughty student who has uploaded his classmate sleeping when the class is going on 
Based on this meetup I also want to highlight that as Local Guides it is our duty to educate our kids about privacy issues and the importance to avoid spamming Google Maps.
This Spam Free meetup is just a small step, it is not about the 1 hour meetup to find and report spam but the larger aim is to cultivate this habit in LGs to be always in the lookout for spam in Google Maps and make it Spam Free.
