Hi everyone,
I have recently hosted a Map Editing Meetup with respect to the Unity Walk Meetup initiated by Local Guides from India to help small businesses by updating the correct information in Google Maps. From the bottom of my heart, I always respect the small businesses since I had some amazing experiences during my Local Guides journey with the small businesses.
One of the most memorable experiences was when I went to a Vegetarian Hotel in Bengaluru and get parcel of my breakfast. The breakfast was Idly and Sambar. And after getting the parcel and when I turned, the parcel slipped from my hand. And the Sambar(form of thick liquid) inside the parcel spread on the ground of the Hotel. There were many customers in that time and I thought the owner will be angry. I asked the owner for cleaning mop so that I clean it but the owner told the worker to put another parcel and give to me and he sent one worker to clean it. I was totally shocked since it was my mistake and I slipped it but the owner being generous and providing such service inspired me alot. That was one of my experiences in a small businesse and wanted to share with you all before starting my recap. Let me come to the Recap now.
I am native town and on the Meetup day, I started my Meeting and decided to cover busy places in my town by walk and update correct information in Google Maps. Unfortunately, on that day most of the shops were closed due to the announcement to open shops only in 3 or 4 days in a week. I decided to continue the Meetup and update correct information for shops which are opened.
During the Meetup, I noticed there were few shops which are located one next to other but are not available in Google Maps. I was very happy to see on adding the second one, I can able to see the first one in the Map. Then on adding the third one, second is listing in Map. I wasn’t able to take photos of the shop front. I continued correcting few of the shops information during the Meetup. I sat in one place and started using Check the facts and corrected most of the information of the shops in my town. I decided to end the Meetup and I right away decided I will take it as a duty to update the correct information of small businesses often by having a walk and corect it. Thank you so much to everyone who were part of this initiative for making this impact on updating information for small businesses. And thank you all.
Stay safe. Take Care. Be happy. Peace.
