The Heritage Place Photo Walk in Kolkata WBLG meetup, an event organized by the West Bengal Local Guides as part of the Great Indian Heritage Walk - II under the banner of India Local Guides community of the Google Local Guides program.
? My own community in my state of West Bengal began the nationwide campaign of bringing out the Indian heritage architecture in front of world, by hosting this event at the Indian Museum and the South Park Street Cemetery on Park Street Kolkata. Both place have a historical & heritage area.We had a total of 14 attendees, including me @SDatta (Sayantan Datta), twice Local Guides Summit attendee @DrShaunak (Shaunak Das), moderator @AshiqueMirza , old members Amit Manna and Tanmay Sarkar apart from fresh faces Abhinaba Saha, Niladri Roy, Tapendu Bakuli, Danesh Tarapore, Asish Sasmal and Samrat Saha & lastly Amitesh Gayen(WBLG admin) unable to present there but helped a lot. We also had Major Siddharaj Sinh Bhati from Gujarat and Monalisa Tudu from Chattisgarh at this meet.
? We started off at the Indian Museum built in 1814, the earliest and largest multipurpose museum in whole of Asia. The museum has a very high valuable & heritage things .There have old statues ,skeleton of old age animals like mamoth etc.
There also have coins of different eras. The coins are really old on BC era.
After the intro and Q&A session, we moved to 2nd floor to explore more of the museum. There also have different things like DNA structures , Biological, ecological things etc.
Then we went Domino’s Pizza outlet at Park Street for some refreshment, before walking down the busy road to visit the 1767-built South Park Street Cemetery, a heritage Christian burial ground.
The meet extended for six hours before the wrap at A.J.C. Bose Road. The Park Street Cemetery is the place where old british rulers & famous british people`s dead body are kept . this place is very calm & nice. Apparently it seems scary but its not like that.
It was a great meet for the West Bengal Local Guides community, many new member come this event .We share knowledge , new stories came out & it was a fun meetup. Thanks to everyone who visited and made this event successful. I am definitely looking forward for more meetup from the West Bengal Local Guides community in near future. ?
