RECAP: The First Swiss Meet-Up!

Hey guys,

taking a /short/ break from children friendly discovieries, today I want to share my recap: I hosted the first meet-up in Zurich, Switzerland. Actually I am pretty sure it is the first of its kind over here (found no informaton, that there were any other yet).

So, please, applauce me and our local comminty!

Actually, when I applied for the Local Guides Summit 2017 I promised to host a meet-up, once being selected. Well, I was selected, and now I made my promise come true.

Six amazin Local Guides from around Zurich came over to get to know each other, talk about the program, discuss what motivates each of us, about my experience from Local Guides Summit 2017 and my hubbys from Connect Live 2018. We chatted a lot, laghted even more, made tons of photos and even a short quiz: everyone was invited to guess the total number of photo views of all the meet-up participants (over 133mn by the way!!!) and then we distributed some perks from the Summit.

Huge THANKS for everyone who participated!

Over 20 other persons, who confirmed their participation and didnt come : you´ve missed a lot! Be sure to stay on track and come to join us the next time! YES, there will be one!

Keep in mind, we value privacy a lot in Switzerland. So group photos will be kept in our private archives only :slightly_smiling_face:

Congratulations, with a big hug in addition, @KseniaM

Well done, and I am really happy that you had several people who attended.

It is extremely possible that your Meetup is actually the first in Switzerland, so double congratulations.

I met on 2017 a Local Guide from your country, but the meetup was in Milan .

Hope to read soon about some more Meetup, and hope to have soon the opportunity to meet you again

6 people for a Meetup is quite good @KseniaM ; a lot of meetups only have 3 or 2, or even just 1 (the host). So a well-deserved congratulations to all the participants!

Well:

“…Over 20 other persons, who confirmed their participation and didnt come : you´ve missed a lot! Be sure to stay on track and come to join us the next time! YES, there will be one!..”

Hope Google will DISCOURAGE this BAD Practice, at least NOW…

To other LGs who complete RSVP, = Kindly Cancel your RSVP or At least come on Virtual Meet, over the Mobile…

Dear Hosts: Let us keep 30 or 15 Minutes (Any time during the meet up) to say Hello to co LGs, who are not able to Physically attend.

(I offer myself to attend your meet ups in future, if the timing of the meetup is between 6 AM to Night PM IST [+5:30 UTC], please)

Thank you for your reply!

It’s ok other didnt show up, no need to punish, everyone has a free will to decide how to spend time given! And hey, they missed such an event, this is punishment enough :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for our offer to join our future meet ups virtually. I am convinced the purpose and benefit of a meet up is actually to MEET face to face! I am happy to CONNECT otherwise here on connect

Cheers and good luck for your meet up!

I agree with many of your points, although not in full, LG @KseniaM ,

  1. In the past 3 months, I had faced many Meet Ups (Delhi & Chennai), where the RSVP had gone to 56 and the attendees from RSVP list were just 4… Our local campaign brought 16 & we were 20…a good figure…

  2. For the Next Day, we had 76 RSVP & just 2 Members from RSVP & 6 came from local campaign; in fact we struggled to get the permission for 25 members from the government & we cut a sorry figure in front of the officers who helped us.

Few LGs have an habit of just pressing the BUTTON… although they are very sure tht they are not going to attend (even from different countries)…

Many times, it is frustrating and painful…

Hi!

Congratulations for your first meeting!

I’m also from switzerland, so maybe we will meet at the next swiss hosted event!

Hi @KseniaM

I’m so happy to see that your meet-ups are so successful, You’ve created a great Local Guides community in Switzerland that shares your interests. Thank you so much for sharing a great recap with the community.

Have a nice day, I am waiting to see your new post telling us about your experience here.

Sehr cool! Ich wäre beim nächsten Mal gerne auch dabei. Wie erfahre ich am Besten von weiteren Treffen?

Hat jemand lust im 2024 ein Schweizer Event zu organisieren?
