[RECAP] Sri Lanka Kandy Photo Walk

Kandy photo walk

The meet up was about to start at 8.30 in the morning at Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden. However, due to several traffic jams around Kandy town, no one could reach the destination at time. Today, there were three new faces at the event. Also, our Jaffna local guide Thanulakshan (@ThanulakshanS) and Kandy local guide Virangya ( @Virangya ) joined us too. We started up with the plan of photographing the flowers in Peradeniya garden, there were hundreds of different flowers and plants around that huge botanical garden covering up a vast area.

Virangya from Kandy local guides Razlan, Sanjeevan and Madushan from Kandy also participated in the event. The flower photography took a lot of time, with the minute techniques taught to them at the session, especially Virangya with her DSLR took more time for each flower.

Thanulukshan & the colleague new faces were photographing with their smartphones. Three new faces Razlan, Sanjeevan and Madushan didn’t have more knowledge about Local Guides program, they just took part to grab some knowledge on photography techniques. However, during the session I explained Razlan & gave the responsibility to Thanulukshan this time, he did it very well. He explained all the aspects and benefits of being a local guide. Then I started doing a 360 virtual tour as I have already done for the rainforest Sinharaja. However, due to the time constraint and the crowd at the garden, I completed only a small sample.

There were many foreign & local tourists roaming here and there. Many of them were asking what am I doing, walking along a circle and asked about the device mounted on my head and also about our t-shirts. Some foreign tourists also took part in asking about LG program. I covered a circle as a sample and promised Virangya, the Kandy Local Guide that I will give her my 360 camera for few days if she assures to complete few paths in this garden

After winding up the 360 session in the garden, we moved on to the Orchid garden with the cameras ready. There were many various varieties of orchids which were really amusing. Hope each and every one of us has a huge collection of those eye-catching flowers.

It was wonderful to meet my fellow guides. Thanks for everyone who made this meet up awesome…
