Few days back applied to Host a first meetup as a photo walk in my neighborhood and named it "Sandal Street Photo Tour"
It was my first meetup experience and goes very well. Even if short notice and remote location of meetup 10 people shown interest to attend and out of which Four able to reach.
Before i proceed further let me show you how place looks like where meetup was organized:
We exchange our journey as a local guide and our contribution with cup of Tea. It was very great experience to know about other fellow LG as everyone is having their own perspective of contributing for community.
Some like to contribute with their photography skills like Govind is doing and some like to do with help of writing reviews for places visited like Mamta Dhayal.
We started walking the place and everyone captured images of various recently opened business. There are more than 60 newly opened places which require attention of LGs.
Below are the learning from this meetup :
We have to plan better next time.
Route to reach destination need to be defined so that every attendee can reach without any issue.
Commute option should be shared to LGs via whatsapp group.
Communication to place authority/if prior meetup so that support in locating meeting point can be guided.
Contact details in Meetup details.
Clarification on food/snacks.
Dress code if possible.
Thanks again to friends who spare time to attend this small meetup on very short notice. Will be hosting next very soon so that we can exchange valuable information with each other and contribute to community more with small steps.
If you have more suggestions for meetup organizing feel free to comment or get in touch with me on Instagram
twitter or facebook as i am available on all major social platforms with handle “Aman Dhayal”
It was my first #localmeetup. I got to know a lot more about maps and different aspects of other people about places.
All meetup are arranged in Delhi or near metro station.
But my personal opinion is to arrange meetup to the area which are out of people reach like this Assotech bussiness crusterra market. This place has around 50 restaurants and grocery stores. But people who stays in society nearest to it, do not know about it. It has official spaced building and they do not bother to walk in and find out that it has the food court ground floor.
If you want to exchange the idea then organise the meetup nearest to metro station but if you want to improve the life of other people then reach to the corner of city/village and add the places/roads etc.
Great experience @amandhayal , thank you for sharing.
I like how you evaluated your first meet-up and learn how to improve the future ones. A post that it’ll help you more is:9 Tips to host a successful Meetup.
Please note that, I removed the label Tips from your post.
@VasT it was a great experience for me, though we were 4-5 people only but these numbers are enough for motivation. There was lot of things i learned and major one are
Advance planning of event.
Place of meetup should be easily accessible.
Share meetup link on social media.
Create whatsapp group so that you can plan better.
Thank you for the advice, @amandhayal . I’m sure that many fellow Local Guides who are willing to submit a meet-up will take them into account. Happy Guiding!
