Shakrain Festival (Bengali: সাকরাইন; also known as Kite festival and Ghuri Utsob) is an annual celebration in Dhaka, Bangladesh, observed with the flying of kites.It occurs at the end of Poush, the ninth month of the Bengali calendar (January 14 or 15 in Gregorian calendar). This day is known as Poush Sangkranti (Bengali: পৌষ সংক্রান্তি; End of Poush).

Shakrain is celebrated mostly around the southern part of Dhaka city. As part of the celebration, colorful kites are flown high from the rooftops around the area in the afternoon. It often takes the form of kite fighting, in which participants try to snag each other’s kites or cut other kites down.
When night falls, fireworks light up the sky of old Dhaka. Flame-eaters also gather on the roofs to entertain people with their skills of manipulating fire. Music awakens the whole town, while people keep dancing from their hearts. Bringing thousands of people together to compete and have fun, it is an occasion and a day every youngster wait eagerly for

Before Sakrain 2/3 day until midnight open kites market all young boys go there to buy their favorite kites, we visit there also take pictures
Our few local guides try to fly kites and join kites fight with other people there some pictures of them. everyone enjoys flying and try to cut other people’s kites in the sky.
Most interesting part is to make a fireball . all house boys try to make a big fireball and show up to others. take kerosine oil in their mouth and throw in the fire . Our few local guides also do this in this meetup time
After sunset friends and family fire in sky lantern and fly this almost from all houses. some people are also writing their message or wish in sky lantern .our few local guides bring the sky to a fly this with others. Everyone enjoyed this and feel happy to fly.
when finish fireworks and other activity almost all rooftop people enjoy the party dancing. it’s not the previous time that the last 7/8 year young generation does this. our attendee local guides also join with other dancing .
This year our 4th Sakrain festival photowalk attend 23 local guides member. Due to you hevy a traffic jam all people are not attending and at the same time so some people are missing afternoon fireworks
