Local Guides enjoy meetups 3 times.
- Planning phase.
- During the meetup
- After the meetup - writing recaps.
Recaps are like recollections of memories after a family trip.
The recent Pune Local Guides meetup was no different.
Local guides from different parts of the Pune Metro region gathered with a common passion for Google Maps and LG Connect at the Pu La Deshpande Garden.
This garden was built as a symbol of the friendship between Pune and Okayama in Japan.
The landscape, flora, and fauna closely resemble that of a classic Japanese garden with Indian elements integrated seamlessly.
1. Planning
Host @Ketan_Kangankar visited the garden a week ahead and found out all the necessary information like tickets, timings, parking facilities, etc.
He also walked around and found an amazing cafe for local guides to eat and drink after the meetup, reserved a table for 20 people, and talked with the cafe owner giving them an idea of the meetup and the attendees.
@AjitThite designed the banner for the meetup.
I and Ketan did a Google Meet to walk through the steps of submitting the meetup on the LG Connect.
2. Meetup
On the day of the meetup, @Ganesh_kamate reached the venue early and booked tickets in advance for all attendees.
This saved much time and hassle as the queue at the ticket counter grew very long by the time everyone arrived.
3. Post Meetup
People are busy sharing photos and videos in a common Google Photos album, writing recaps and recollecting fond memories of the joy and pleasantries exchanged at the meetup.
Highlights of the meetup and my takeaways:
1. The wonderful organization of the meetup by Ketan.
Teamwork by Pune local guides in banner design, logo design, meetup submission, ticket booking, and cafe booking.
2. 15 Local Guides from Pune attended the meetup.
3. 8 local guides attended a meetup for the first time.
4. Two local guides accompanied by a spouse, who btw clicked all the photos by staying behind the camera
5. Magnet distributed by host Ketan that was composed by me using an AI image made by Ketan and the Logo made by Ajit.
6. Ajit designed and did Flex printing of the banner.
7. All local guides shared their journey and experience from Google Maps users to LG Connect contributors.
8. Stickers from the Tokyo Moderator meetup were distributed to Pune local guides.
9. Many local guides from outside Pune joined online via Google Meet.
10. All local guides showed keen interest in accessibility, asked a lot of questions about accessibility, and captured a lot of photos and accessibility features in the park and also at the cafe.
Here are the photo highlights:
1. Accessibility features at The Chaat Cafe.
2. Pune Local Guides in deep conversations, exchanging tips, tricks, and updates about Google Maps and LG Connect.
3. Accessibility features at Pu La Deshpande Garden in Pune.
4. More accessibility features at Pu La Deshpande Garden in Pune.
Finally, here’s the magnet gifted by host Ketan Kangankar to all attendees adorning my fridge door
