[Recap] Prahran Family Adventure

Three Local Guides myself, @MaxPlusFood and @Terrycorb had this idea to generate a family friendly event wandering one of our favourite suburbs where we’d take them to great food places, quirky shops like a record store and the bazaar not to mention a theatre home to very unconventional plays finishing off with amazing ice cream, locally roasted coffee and drooling into the windows of a hifi store where the price tags resemble the price tags at the local car dealer. We discussed the lack of accessibility at a couple of the venues.

Then our state of Victoria entered Covid Lockdown 5.0 “watch me pull a rabbit out of this hat Rocky” days before the meet-up was due to happen, so we had a quick “now what” meeting and decided to hold a virtual event instead. We used Google Meet and made the link available to anyone who had shown an interest and also streamed the meet-up on YouTube for anyone who was interested to watch. We had a surprising number of people on that stream and enjoyed the company of some other locals like @AdamGT @SilvyC and @Frank_inAU in the virtual meet live.

You can watch the stream recording below and if you’re interested in visiting Prahran or seeing some amazing Street Art in Terry’s photos then I suggest you should. It was an awesome way to spend an hour among mates and while it was nowhere near as good as a real in person meet-up it was still excellent. We’ll find a future date to run the physical version and then we can compare!

Hi @PaulPavlinovich , @MaxPlusFood and @Terrycorb

Even though it was a virtual meetup I thought it was great and covered a lot of ground in just an hour. I really enjoyed it. As well as the interesting Places of Interest, the street art that Terry showed was amazing.

Glad you enjoyed it @MAHBUB_HYDER and Terry really does find the good stuf @AdamGT - I’ve got a great Frankston collection that I’ll run a future physical meet-up with when the weather is warmer and we can finish on the beach with ice cream.

Interesting meetup @PaulPavlinovich . It’s great you improvise and turn the meetup into a virtual one due to sudden restrictions.

Video is quite interesting. I enjoyed those street arts very much. Thanks for sharing with us !!!

Thanks @ravindus one thing the last 18 months has taught us is how to pivot our thinking to suddenly change things!

Great work @PaulPavlinovich @Terrycorb @MaxPlusFood !! It’s a shame about the lockdown but thanks for switching it to a virtual meet-up for all to enjoy the lovely sights of Prahran!!

Thanks @AdrianLunsong . We’re lucky that it was virtual - one of the sites we would have visited was declared a Tier 1 Covid site from a visitor the day before.

Eek… that’s no good @PaulPavlinovich … but it’s so tough because it could just pop up anywhere! I am loving some me time with the computer though so going out is not a major priority for me.
