As COVID-19 shuffle our plans, we make new ones and share with people as we thrive through the lockdown. Local Guides from 4 continents (Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America) on Tuesday, 21st April 2020 joined to share some amazing places and exciting thing to see or do. Also, their plans after the pandemic. Let’s hope gets over soon than yesterday so we can all go back to doing the things we love and miss. We started with a quick intro and presentation followed.
Alexandre, Brazil
Shared “What to do in Rio de Janeiro**”** including 300 360° imageries of a Museum he shot, Famous food and the last beautiful burger he had before the lockdown. @AlexandreCampbell also shared his city photo album, some insights about Brazilian cuisines which was an exciting thing to learn to most of us. If you enjoy this recap it was inspired by his style.
Deni, Indonesia
POST COVID-19. He wants to visit Malang, The Jakarta History / Fatahillah Museum, some transport links, go back to the University of Indonesia since studying at home is not working for him. We suggested @dnfazri to host a campus meetup when the university opens again.
Falguni, India
Because of its astonishing climate, @FalguniP wants to visit Kerala which is a state on the southwestern Malabar Coast of India it’s also known as God’s Own Country. She shared some beautiful pictures of Kerala also, her great contributions were felt throughout the meetup.Her favourite places are beaches and nature related.
Sumeet K, India
Took us on tour through on his list on Maps of the 5 places he wants to visit. Some places in his list include Train Stations, Dadar Flower Market, Hanging Garden Mumbai. He loves flowers a lot and he is open for a recommendation if anyone needs beautiful flowers for functions. He showed us a famous Hindu temple called Shri Siddhi Vinayak Ganpati Mandir, khau Galli lines which are popular places for food and tourist attractions. khau Galli sparked a great discussion and one of the attendees Shurti shared Food Crawl Meetup that was hosted in 2018 at Ghatkopar khau Galli (recap).
Isha, London
“We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won’t need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don’t fire cannons to call attention to their shining- they just shine.” – Dwight L. Moody. Isha led us to Souter Lighthouse and the Leas located in Sunderland, United Kingdom. Souter Lighthouse was opened in 1871 and was the first lighthouse in the world to be actually designed and built specifically to use alternating electric current according to Wikipedia. Isha shared memories of this place and things to do, @Globe_trotter_Ish showed lovely pictures of London Bridge, and sad COVID19 fact, her meetup had to be cancelled due to Coronavirus lockdown.
Sabbir, Bangladesh
What’s more beautiful than your favourite place on Google Maps? @SabbirShawon flew our screens to Lalakhal, Sylhet in Bangladesh where he shot his Connect Live 2020 video which is a famous tourist attraction. Other must-see places include; Keane Bridge, Ali Amjad’s Clock. Foods to try; Jalebi, fuchka also known as Panipuri. Festive to see; 14th April Pôhela Boishakh / Bengali New Year Cultural Celebration.

You may have seen or come across some beautiful lakes around the world but I bet you have not seen a lake as breathtaking as Lake Retba (The Pink Lake of Senegal). It’s first on Ancha’s list post covid19 then Goree Island in Dakar, Senegal which was used during Atlantic Slave Trade, in The Gambia she wants to visit the gorgeous new seaside Gambian owned hotel called Sunprime Tamala Beach located at the heart of tourist attraction in the Gambia Kololi, Senegambia. If she doesn’t include me from start, I am planning to crash her plans. Prior to Covid19 lockdown; Ancha shared some beautiful memories of a recent holiday in Istanbul, Turkey.
Tejas, India
Pegman led the way with Tejas through Ahmedabad, the first declared heritage city of India by UNESCO. The must-see place they showed us was Hutheesing Jain Temple. The architecture of the temple is just astonishing and @TEJASJANI shared his experience as a local guide in his city.
Shurti, India. ‘Our birthday Girl’
Just when she prepared to present, we stole the show and wished her happy birthday and sing for her. We were all very excited to celebrate that beautiful occasion with her during a meetup. All she asking for her birthday is to give back to the millions of daily wagers and people stuck in places due to COVID-19. @shrutiupadhyay_u has launched fundraising with Goonj to support communities which end in 5 weeks. An artist and food blogger, he made me hungry during his presentation as he shared some of his food shoots and the things to do which were just remarkable. The fun fact @karan_iclickthese sister is a tailor and makes some of his clothes when he was asked where he shops clothes that were his reply.

I was last to present and shared some of my favourite places; Famagusta Walled City in Cyprus and post covid19 I plan to shoot a virtual tour. Since I’m a foodie and loves to have fun, night clubs and where exciting things happened are my favourite spots. In Cyprus, I want to visit Vibes City at Glapsides Beach, Coachella Coffee and Bistro Afro Thursday. In the Gambia, I want to visit the Senegambia area where you have some of the best restaurants and nightlife.
More local guides joined and participated immensely to the meetup but didn’t present from
Sagar Navale, Rosy Kohli, Eleweke Austin, Aditya Patil, Raju Royal, Muhammad Sulaiman had to leave early due to an emergency. I am sorry if I forget to mention anyone. Thank you so much for your time and participation once again!
