RECAP: Port harcourt Ice Cream Crawl

As always I take very free time I get to organise a meet-up in my locality as a local guide. My 2nd meet-up this past week,I had a virtual and a physical meet-up. When I get to a new area either here in my own country or abroad, I always like like to organise a meet-up to meet the local guides on ground. I have been in Port Harcourt city since last year but never got a chance to organise meet-up as a result of my work schedules.

This Ice cream crawl was quite special and knowledgeable. I learnt lots of new things myself and was able to demonstrate some few local guide skills even in the Ice cream shop. The place is called SweetTooth Confectioneries

Time: The meet-up started at about 4pm and we started into local guides talk almost immediately.

We looked at our Google profiles the different ones of us and we compared different things, just to inspire us to contribute more on the maps. There were 3 of us on level 9 @MrBest !!! Mind you there was a level 2 local guides amongst us so don’t feel inferior

We took lots of photos to add to the Google Maps. I hadn’t a problem arriving there in a taxi, but some other local guides had. The place had a duplicate, so we edited the Ice cream shop. The edit hasn’t been approved though. 2 of us local.guides are trusted photographers, so we demonstrated how to take a 360° streetview photo right there in the Ice cream shop and published. They were both approved immediately.

Next we talked about Gmb and the need for business owners to claim their business. We discussed the new way of verifying a claimed business. It has become difficult or impossible to claim a.new business here in Nigeria as a result the postal system issues. Another issue we discussed relating to post is the delivery of our local guides perk.

@BriggsPh and I are yet to receive our perks which is due to arrive since last year and hasn’t till date.

Next ,we talked about photo path and I showed my profile proudly on that none of the local guides in attendance had the badge of course. I was able to explain and encourage others to try and contribute.

A very knowledgeable meet-up of vibrant md active members of the local guides in Port Harcourt city. It was worthwhile. Mind you we had the Ice cream alongside the discussions.

The last thing I’ll list down below is the various variety of Ice cream we had and the toppings.

  • Vanilla
  • Unicorn
  • Tiramisu
  • Hazelnut
  • Bailey’s (Coffee) Gelston
  • Death by chocolate Gelato cookies
  • De Ruby cheesecake

So the Ice cream was well sampled and we made sure we had a taste of all the varieties available. I didn’t see the strawberry as that’s my favourite but not too worry. The taste was yummy.

There were toppings like:

  • Peanut toppings
  • Waffles
  • Tiny stars
  • Sweet tooth

N:B My Review of the Ice cream shop where we had the meet-up.

Perhaps this meet-up might brighten up your week !!! Have a good day and cheers

Whoa, this is a great experience. @SholaIB honestly this is just like a project I’m working on.

Having photographic evidence of places and tribes in Nigeria, the project is aimed at promoting African cultures, creating jobs for Artists, and making Nigeria’s tourist attractions a place to chill out. @SholaIB

Thank you @Femimaestro

Very kind of you to reply. Wish you well for your projects.
