[RECAP] Pizza Meetup in San Jose

Making a pizza meetup was simple (it’s always simple when everything works perfectly!) And the reasons are simple: everyone likes pizza, the place chosen to bring people together on the occasion of Connect Live 2019 (San Jose Downtown), is spectacular because in a few minutes you can move from side to side and because the Local Guides we met were EXEMPLARY!

San Jose Downtown is full of places to meet and go to organize photo events and, for the local inhabitants, it is a set of meeting places that are also ideal for studying (it is a city full of young people).

The meetup took place without unexpected events and, compared to the forecasts, we also arrived early.

In Italy we usually go to dinner around 9 in the evening, or, in some places, we go there first, that is, around 8 in the evening. It is almost impossible to find a restaurant that can give you a standard dinner at 6 in the evening. Usually at that time the pizzerias are open, which in Italy are usually without tables (or have very few stools).

On the day of the meetup we finished around 6pm on the photowalk and we immediately went to the pizzeria which, as per previous agreements, welcomed us with great enthusiasm and with the utmost technical preparation.

The pizza chefs started to handle the fresh pizza dough in an excellent way and the result was no exception.

During the event we had the opportunity to taste the many types of pizzas that were available in the restaurant, from traditional to more specific ones such as the Hawaiian version.

In the evening both I and the other people took several photographs of both the products on the table and the group, here you can see our shared album

Some people arrived later but, since it was not a meal organized with standard courses, there was no problem as they chose their favorite pizzas and tasted them to give their evaluation.

Here are some of the reviews from the meetup attendees.

@Luigi

Good American pizzeria. The place is very spacious and has many tables, we brought a nice group of people and they managed to serve without problems, there was room for everyone. The pizza is good and not expensive for the local average. The staff is polite and very helpful, they even accommodated us on special requests, availability permitting. They make takeaway pizza. They also have some space on the street.

(and Luigi comes from Naples! His 5 stars are worth 10!)

We had a big pizza party here and the place was adequate for the 50+ people. They were making fresh pizzas and took care of large amount of orders within time. The staff here is very helpful and very patient. They have veg and non veg both options and staff made good recommendation too. Prices are good considering the slice you get.

@Jesi

Very quick and nice staff, and pretty large slices of good pizza. The place has more than enough room for many middle sized groups. One of the employees happily gave us a show as he prepped the dough.

A typical American style pizzeria with something more to offer than usual. The staff is friendly, fast in service and fun. We were very well received even though we were many. The pizza is not the real Italian but the American style pizza and it is still appreciable. I really loved the decor and colors of this pizzeria, with a very peculiar and eccentric style. We have accepted even the Hawaiianan pizza challenge here! I recommend it to everyone

ITALIANO

@Luigi

Buona pizzeria americana.

@Amiran a simple words: #letsguide!

Some suggestions:

1 chose a restaurant that can wait until last day to knows the exact number of attendees.

2 chose your preferred meal to explain before the Meetup, if you organize a pizza meetup chose your preferred pizza to share a picture in the creation of the meetup.

3 share the event in your circle of friends asking to someone to do something for you (example to chose the Meetup info-graphic and to share on his social network)

Tag me when you create it!

Wow @manulele81, great recap, great videos, great meetup for a greet evening!

Everything was great, we have so much fun that evening and it was just wonderful, thank you very much for it.

I’ve been also honored to be your assistant in making the special Pizza with Nutella and yes … I gave 5 stars to the place (it values 10? haha), they deserved it overall and the pizza was really good … to be an American pizza ;-).

Great recap @manulele81 I suspect you had better luck with your pizza than we did - ours was served cold. It tasted ok but we didn’t really eat it.

It was a very fun meetup and a very nice end of our first day in San Jose with so many Local Guides, thank you for hosting it, @manulele81 .

I really liked the day one video too. I didn’t even realize there was a camera recording everything but I’m really grateful to have on a video my first time meeting many members of Team Italy, and so many great people, as well as the after party, and the nice areas of San Jose we went to.

@PaulPavlinovich my pizzas was really hot (in our table we ordered 3 full big pizzas). the pepperoni pizza was my flavoured, the garlic pizza was the baddest, the Hawaiian pizza was strange… was like a “salty coke”.

Thanks for the 36photoswalk that helped the pizzameetup!

I’m glad you liked your pizza and it was served hot @manulele81

My two favourite pizza are

  • garlic and cheese (mozzarella and bocconcini)

  • margherita Baby spinach, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomato, basil pesto, bocconcini cheese, tomato sauce and herbs

This is our “local” https://goo.gl/maps/jQjNxhWRBqYfi8Jg9 in fact, since it’s dinner time I’m going to order one :slightly_smiling_face:
