The event ‘Photowalk Namobuddha’ was created in parallel with 'International Month of Monuments’ (LG Monument Month) on the behalf of ‘Nepal Local Guides’ community. Due to certain limitations the event and thus the journey was shortened to ‘Banepa’ and ‘Panauti’ city.
The journey started from Koteshwor at 10 AM as we gathered there. We headed towards Banepa city via. Bus. After getting down from bus we started our mapping on the way towards ‘Shree Chandeshwori temple’. We reached to the temple at 12 noon. After enjoying the magnificent architecture there we left the place. As we were about to left the place we saw a small street and decided to follow with the expectation that there could be another temple down. Eventually we reached to the river. We crossed the river and decided to travel through forest. Nobody was aware of the route via forest. A wonderful hike can be seen in the video. Later we checked the Google map and headed towards a broad road. Then we got back down to city and picked up another bus for ‘Panauti’ city.
At Panauti, we made our way towards ‘Shree Gorakhnath temple’. It is located at the top of the hill. We saw there a stepladder of stones from the bottom of the hill up to top. A panoramic view of the Panauti city can be seen from there. The temple was built in the remembrance of famous ‘Gorakhnath baba’.
There is a real story of our late king, warrior and the founder of unification of Greater Nepal ‘Prithivinarayan Shah’ and baba Gorakhnath. *One day Gorakhnath was discussing with the child Prithivinarayan. Baba Gorakhnath was eating something and he told Prithivinarayan to eat from the same plate. But Prithivinarayan refused to eat. While speaking, a tiny part of food escaped from baba’s mouth and attached to the Prithivinarayan’s leg. Then baba told him that, if he had eaten the food then he would be able to achieve what he speaks but now he would be able to get victory where he makes his footsteps. The same happened later. He not only unified the small states but also defeated all other international wars too. His motto for international war was ‘*जाई कटक गर्नु, झिकी कटक नगर्नु’ which means ‘if anyone attacks then give them a reply but don’t start a war by yourself’.
Now I wish to return back to my original point. The Gorakhnath hill is believed not to be affected by earthquake. The belief is making sense till now as it resisted the 2015 AD earthquake also. Scientists use to give the reason that the whole hill is made up by single stone.
After viewing the Gorakhnath temple we went down, crossed the river and headed towards the Panauti city. There we visited the ‘Indreshwor Mahadev temple’. This place is also full of amazing architecture. There is a "Triweni Dham’ at its side. The word ‘Triweni/Triveni’ came from the fusion of three rivers. The fusion of three rivers is supposed as a holy place. After spending the time there we made our hungry stomach calm. Then we departed from the place via bus to our origin.
