In our Recap of Recaps journey celebrating #LGC10, we continue to celebrate the energy and dedication of Local Guides worldwide through the meet-up participants leaderboard—where every host is also a participant.
After revisiting February, March, April, May, and June 2026, I explored July 2026 with a focus on participation and recap trends.
The month saw 51 meetups organized by 41 Local Guides. These meetups were hosted across 18 countries:

From in-person gatherings to virtual and hybrid meetups, July clearly reflected the diversity and spirit of our global community.
Here’s a glimpse of these inspiring meetups.
In-Person Meetups:
35 in-person meetups were organised in July, bringing Local Guides together. Indonesia led the way with an impressive 11 gatherings, followed closely by meaningful contributions from India with 6, and Bangladesh with 4.
The July meetups kicked off with @inadwiana, who hosted two adventurous Hikers Local Guides Photo & Video Walks—a two-day hiking and camping trip to Ranu Kumbolo, featuring challenging trails, breathtaking sunset, Milky Way and sunrise views, and temperatures as low as 2.3°C, followed by a 19-member overnight Geo Walk at Sabana Bukit Lincing, where participants tackled rugged trails, witnessed a spectacular sunrise, captured stunning photos and videos, and celebrated teamwork, safety, and solidarity. @AnisaAe hosted a vintage-location photowalk, exploring local attractions through photography while supporting local businesses in establishing and strengthening their presence on Google Maps, and later hosted a meetup connecting Local Guides with UMKM owners, highlighting how Google Maps contributions can increase business visibility and encourage collaboration and community growth. @Maximilianozalazar hosted a meetup celebrating 10 years of Local Guides Connect with a visit to the Argentine Museum of Natural Sciences, dinosaur and marine-life exhibits, and a fun stop at Argentina’s first barista robot, along with special recognition for participating Local Guides. @NunungAfuah hosted a wonderfully creative and engaging #LGConnectTurns10 meetup, combining a fun scavenger hunt, Google Maps contributions, local food, and community bonding, while @JeffryRisandy hosted an intimate meetup in Malang featuring insights into the Connect Moderator role, community discussions, and practical tips for becoming a better Local Guide. @SholaIB celebrated #ConnectTurns10 with a memorable Amala food crawl in Lagos, combining local cuisine, photography, community discussions, and virtual connections, while @curatorofmemory hosted a warm and memorable meetup celebrating 10 years of Connect through stories, reflections, interactive sessions, and meaningful community connections, and later hosted a unique pre-ConnectLIVE meetup at IGI Airport T3 featuring tea, conversations, sustainability observations, and shared excitement that continued throughout the flight to Singapore. @Rahul001 hosted the Trivandrum meetup, celebrating a decade of Connect through community bonding, anniversary memorabilia, a shared meal, and a photo walk contributing to Google Maps. I also hosted a joyful #LGConnectTurns10 meetup in Gurugram, bringing Local Guides together in person and virtually to share stories, laughter, friendships, and celebrate a decade of Connect. The Indonesia Local Guides community celebrated Connect’s 10th anniversary at Rotina Bakery, with Google Maps tips, local business insights, fresh-baked treats, and community connections, hosted by @doc_dells, while @viradhiafikri hosted a scenic photowalk at Tegaron Waterfall, combining nature, photography, relaxation, and plans for future reading and clean-up activities. Hosted by @Trishatishu, Local Guides in Japan gathered at Mizumoto Park for an unofficial 10th-anniversary celebration of Connect, blending cultural traditions, community bonding, reflections, and a joyful homemade biryani and Chotpoti feast. @Papel_Mahammud hosted the 10th Connect Day & Pre-Connect Meetup 2026, bringing Bangladesh Local Guides together to celebrate Connect’s 10th anniversary, welcome four Connect Live Singapore representatives, engage students, and gather Google Maps feedback, while @SophatCHY hosted the Cambodia Local Guides meetup, focused on reconnecting, community feedback, improving Google Maps, welcoming new members, and strengthening the community ahead of Connect Live Singapore. @AbdullahAM hosted a Dhaka gathering on July 25 celebrating the 10th anniversary of Local Guides Connect with cake, photos, knowledge sharing, short talks, and tea. @framesbysumedh hosted a pre-trip meetup at Mumbai Airport for Local Guides heading to Connect Live Singapore, and later a ConnectLIVE Singapore meetup at Changi Airport, where participants explored Jewel, exchanged experiences, and built friendships. @curatorofmemory also hosted a ConnectLIVE 26 icebreaker meetup at Nanyang Old Coffee, bringing Local Guides from different countries together for coffee, conversations, cultural exchanges, and new friendships. @deepakjhic hosted a pre-ConnectLIVE huddle from Duxton Park to Chinatown, combining a heritage photo walk with Google Maps edits, accessibility checks, cultural insights, and community bonding. Finally, @MohammadPalash hosted South Asia Meetup 26 in Singapore, bringing Local Guides from across Asia together to celebrate friendship, cultural diversity, collaboration, and the shared mission of making Google Maps more helpful.
Virtual Meetups:
While in-person meetups created local impact, 14 virtual gatherings bridged distances, uniting Local Guides from around the world.
I would especially like to appreciate @cuicani for the excellent way she has mentioned meetup participants in her meetup recaps. 
This is the first time I have seen this approach on Connect, and I really appreciate it. In her virtual meetups, she has mentioned the country of each participant along with their name, making the recaps more informative and helping readers understand the truly global participation. She hosted two heartfelt #LGConnectTurns10 celebrations—Recap 1 and Recap 2—bringing together Local Guides from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and the Francophone community to share their journeys, milestones, motivations, friendships, and the people who inspired and shaped their Local Guides experience over the years.
@ErmesT and @KarenVChin hosted a global virtual #LGConnectTurns10 meetup, bringing together 35 Local Guides from 17 countries and time zones, featuring a special conversation with Connect co-creator @Traci, community stories, and a celebration of Connect’s decade-long journey. The TRAC community celebrated Connect’s 10th anniversary with a joyful virtual meetup, hosted by @SholaIB, featuring interactive discussions, a quiz, and connections with fellow celebrants worldwide. @SholaIB also hosted the Lagos Island Amala food crawl mentioned in the in-person section above.
The Indian Local Guides community celebrated Connect’s 10th anniversary through a global virtual meetup, hosted by @TravellerG, featuring nostalgic journey-sharing, interactive conversations, recognition of contributors, and strengthened community connections. @Kumaarsantosh hosted Ghumakkad Gossip V2 Episode 11, an insightful discussion on making every Google Maps contribution meaningful, accurate, inclusive, and impactful, with @curatorofmemory as the resource person sharing valuable insights on creating a lasting digital footprint. @curatorofmemory also hosted the in-person and pre-ConnectLIVE meetups mentioned above.
Finally, @SoniaK hosted the July 26 virtual meetup, celebrating 10 years of Connect through stories, nostalgia, and global friendships, highlighting how the community has grown from online connections into lifelong real-world bonds.
Hybrid Meetups:
July also showcased the power of connection through 2 hybrid meetups, seamlessly blending in-person energy with virtual participation.
The meetup hosted by @TusharSuradkar explored Pune using Ask Maps, leading participants to Sambhaji Garden for photography, community interaction, and celebrations of Connect’s 10th anniversary.
The July meetup in Argentina, hosted by @EugeGallardo, celebrated Connect’s 10th anniversary with bowling, games, a virtual gathering with Local Guides worldwide, gifts, a birthday cake, pizza, and reflections on friendship and community.
Highest Forum Interaction
The meet-up Local Guides Pre Connect Live Huddle - Duxton Park to Chinatown hosted by @deepakjhic achieved the highest overall interaction with 71 likes/views, 63 comments, and 43 RSVPs.
