RECAP of Photowalk 14 - Storefront Photos in Pune

The 14th storefront photo walk was conducted as part of Connect’s 8th anniversary celebrations, organized by guiding stars @KashifMisidia and @NareshDarji

I think that when places have photos on Google Maps of what they look like from the outside it helps to locate them easily for those who go there for the first time.

1. Here’s the storefront photo of the Toothsi Outlet on Baner Road in Pune that shows:

  1. Leveled entrance to allow easy access for a wheelchair.
  2. Ambiance and racks inside the showroom.
  3. Parking space.
  4. The various services and features offered by the outlet.
  • all in a single frame.

2. This storefront photo of Bikaner Mithai Sweets Shop on Baner Link Road shows:

  1. No accessibility features like any handrail or ramp.
  2. Parking space,
  3. Partial interiors of the shop and the ambiance.

3. This storefront photo of Brick Arch on Sus Road shows:

  1. No accessibility features like any handrail or ramp.
  2. Parking space.
  3. Various Services offered by the business.
  4. Phone number of the business.

4. This front side photo of the Bhairavnath Temple in Baner Town in Pune shows:

  1. No accessibility features like any handrail or ramp.
  2. Parking space.

5. These storefront photos of the HDFC ATM and Global Real Estate Consultants on Sus Road in Pune shows:

  1. No accessibility features like any handrail or ramp.
  2. Phone numbers.
  3. Services offered by the business.
  4. Timings.

I tried to capture photos that clearly showed the entrance, the name and details of the shop, and the width of the pavement around it among other details.

Conclusion

I am sure such storefront photos will help Googe Maps users a lot when locating the shop easily especially when they are located amidst a crowd of other shops on Baner Road and Sus Road which has evolved from a humble walkway to an extra-wide and superrich shopping street over the decades.

Great contribution to maps by this Storefront photos which gives clear idea of the shop to map users before going there. I am also thinking to start this Storefront series in my area. Thanks for sharing @TusharSuradkar .

Thanks a bunch for the link @MortenCopenhagen - I closely follow your photography tips for Google maps, just that I do not have an inclination towards capturing the best photos for a place more than having a nominal photo. I will work on these skills in the near future though  with help from your amazing tips.

Tagging when you are already in a thread is piece of cake. When I need to search for your username problems mount.

Sorry for shamelessly promoting my series in your thread. But once I started noticing leaning vertical lines, I can not ignore them. Most importantly while shooting, I take 1-3 seconds to ensure the vertical lines are straight. I can not help it  And I felt the topic of your photo walk made it relevant.

Cheers and thanks for following my series.

Is this issue of problems with tagging usernames with an underscore character especially when they are already not tagged in a discussion being reported or discussed somewhere?

I haven’t seen this before. I am sure this is not unique to my username since there would be several usernames with an underscore in them.

I am searching for a few, though I do not use a mobile or touch screen device to verify the issue.

If the issue exists with no solution or workaround, I may consider removing the underscore in my username.

@TusharSuradkar

I do not recall a dedicated post on this.

I think it is linked to the special caracter _ and not you personally. I could create and share a short video documenting the problem.

One complication could be that it might be linked to which keyboard is selected on the mobile device.

Since this issue is linked to Connect and not Maps we might have better chances to get it fixed.

Cheers
