Event proper:
Introduction
Silas - The host @Silooobaba introduced himself and other attendees, Silas explain in details what the community, local guides is all about, and why it is good to help contribute meaningfully to the map. Thereafter, he outlined the plans for the day.
@Chizbeth- encouraged all members to always demonstrate creativity and contribute quality contents to the map. Cited an example of how relying on Google map outside Nigeria helped her navigate her way around the Philippines.
Also, in her words “don’t spam the app with so many irrelevant pictures” it can attract punishment such as banning you from the program. Quality reviews also help people use the map to know what to expect even before visiting the supposed place.
Silas Ayua- made several presentations using projector to guide new members on how to contribute to the Google map app.
There were more contributions from other members like @Johnbiz07, @Demola, @BemBright @Hillaks Guides Abuja and @NkennaA
New members were informed of the guidelines of the program. They were encouraged to operate a single account as operating multiple accounts is counterproductive and can attract penalties. The knowledge kept flowing and we had to cut it short to attend to the main issues of the day: adding new businesses to the map and quality reviews. We edited and reviewed Bronz cafe, Barbers Lounge, Big ideas supermarket, 69 Street eatery, Cars45, Amala bush kitchen, Le Parisienne eatery and many more.
After adding and making reviews, participants reconvened at the venue for a debriefing exercise, participants took turns to share their experiences so far since joining the local guides and key learning at the Gwarinpa meet-up. At this juncture, @Nkenna shared his experience with the participants and also encouraged the participants to apply for connect live coming up November, 2019, at San Jose.
Due to the hot weather of the day, the event officially came to a close at 1:30pm.
