RECAP:Nigeria Accessible Walk-ALD

Owerri, the capital of Imo State (South East Nigeria), is known for its educational institutions and hospitality industry. Weekends are usually busy especially as the rainy season persists.

Our meetup location was the popular Ikenegbu Road which leads into Aladinma Housing Scheme and Imo State University (backgate).

There were several super markets, banks, electronic shops, eateries and other businesses on this corridor. Most of the buildings didn’t have ramps nor accessible trails. Construction work around the city also, may have had them removed as a result of massive earthworks.

It was gladening to find some ramps and accessibility trails in the vicinity. We were not permitted to take some photos at some shop fronts, despite some explanations.

Owerri glaringly is witnessing population increase and traffic congestion. I noticed that a lot of places are being reviews by LGs too. Great job.

Hey @EmekaUlor , it’s awesome that you do some many Accesibility Walks. It’s looks like you covered a lot of ground in this one, congrats!

I said about two months ago that I was going to organise one of these … It’s been longer than I thought but I will do it eventually, and more after it

Thank you for inspiring me and for sharing this recap with us!
