RECAP:: Nigeria Accessibility Walk Port Harcourt

It is raining heavily in the oil city of Port Harcourt. The traffic isn’t easing despite the rains. Neither did we bulge.

One of the popular bus station at Rumuokoro has witnessed some modernization and merging with the modern market. The arrangement and transit coordination was quite orderly. There are covered areas for passengers to wait for pickup. The restrooms and first aid room were opened to the public. It was a well maintained facility which was quite the opposite a few years ago.

Briggs and I met at Elekahia close to the University of Port Harcourt. We drove into the university community (our meetup venue)

The camaradrie of the Local Guides community was again strongly exhibited, as Briggs volunteered to drive us round Port Harcourt, showing us major areas and their landscape features.

University of Port Harcourt has witnessed some physical changes with gigantic buildings spread across the landmass. We toured the Faculties of Social Sciences, Agriculture, Hospitality & Tourism, Education and Engineering.

Some of the major buildings had accessible trails connecting the faculties from the main roads. The car parks were large enough to accommodate vehicles.

One beautiful thing about the location is its luxuriant greenery which made it naturally aesthetic.

We later drove through Elekahia-Elekparana- Ada George road to Rivers State University at Npolu.

Great having Briggs volunteer his time in a rainy Friday morning!
