[Recap] Nepal Virtual Meetup

We successfully conducted our Nepal first virtual meetup with 7 participants from different city and country.

Firstly I would link to thanks all the Nepal LG’s who joined the meetup @SovitaD @NirajBhusal @shivpandey @Surendra @bedbyas @RupendraNeupane

The meetup started with the lockdown situation in our neighborhood and in France as @SovitaD is currently in France for her studies.

After sharing out about the current lockdown situation, we started with introduction and the most contributed things on Google Maps.

Sovita Dahal: Level 9 local guide from Kathmandu, Nepal but currently in France for studies. She contributed more on adding new places and edit while in Nepal but have shifted to photos after moving to France.

Niraj Bhusal: Level 8 local guide from Kathmandu, Nepal. His most contribution on Google Maps are through Editing, Reviews and Photos addition.

Shiv Pandey: Level 8 local guide from Butwal, Nepal. He is more focused on the Q&A and Photos contribution on Google Maps. While he was in India, he used to add more of the missing roads as well on Google Maps.

Surendra Shrestha: Level 7 local guide from Lalitpur, Nepal. Contributing through photos and reviews are the

Bedbyas Pokhrel: Level 7 local guide from Dang, Nepal. Adding photos and reviews are the popular contribution of Bedbyas on Google Maps.

Rupendra Neupane: Level 8 local guide from Bhaktapur, Nepal. Photos and public toilets are two major contribution of Rupendra on Google Maps.

Madan Krishna Pradhan: Level 9 local guide from Biratnagar, Nepal. Photos, Edits and Answers are the major contribution on Google Maps. It is more shifted toward the edits for localization due to the lockdown.

After our introduction we discussed about different thing that were put on the table for discussion by fellow local guides. One of the query was regarding the addition of road. As the feature isn’t fully available for Nepal, it is one of the issue we aren’t able to update new road in our neighborhood. We also talked about the Road Mapper program which is not available yet to the public as it’s only being used by some of the selected mappers and local guides.

We also talked about the selfie and group photo issue which are contributed on the listing though they don’t contribute much for the business and other listings.

Lastly we have decided to organize monthly virtual meetup to connect with each other and new friends and share the update and information.

I would like to thank again to everyone for joining the virtual meetup and hope to see you again on future meetup again.

Happy Mapping. #LocalGuides #Nepal
