As Local Guides, we all love to host or attend meetups in our communities or virtually. What is more exciting than learning from each other on how to be a better host or attendee also what to avoid during meetups. On Saturday 9th May 2020 three Local Guides @Jesi from Argentine, @Mayford from Nigeria and myself from Cyprus, presented at peer learning meetup on Accessibility Meetup, Photo Walk and Virtually Meetup respectively. Sadly, @Sagir was supposed to be our fourth presenter on Map Editing but he lost a family member. Our thoughts and prayers with him and his family.
The meetup lasted for about an hour twenty minutes with over 30 Local Guides, some from different countries. We had an interactive discussion between the presenters and attendees’ around the topics presented.
Hi, @AlphaSays What a great recap of a great meet-up. Unfortunately, I missed it, but lucky me, you recorded, and I’ll be bookmarking to watch later. Thank you for sharing!
I enjoyed the short while I was with you and everyone else in the meetup @AlphaSays . That was a very insightful session and thanks to @Jesi also for coming through. We certainly missed you @Sagir . Meetups are so much fun with more people!!
Hello, @AlexandreCampbell congrats again! I love the new badge and it looks really good on your profile.
You are welcome and thanks a lot, let me know what you think after you watched it. I was wondering if you could please presenter at the second peer learning meetup in June, having to know your great experience with meetups also, as Connect Moderator now could be of great benefit to share knowledge with others. I am not sure about the exact date as my exams are close but we can communicate.
Thank you! Greetings from Cyprus.
Thank you so much @NareshDarji It’s alright you can still watch the record from above. Looking forward to having you in my future meetups. Dhanyawad
@Mayford thank you so much for honouring my invitation to present, your presentation was so insightful and against all odds, you presented well. Indeed, it was amazing with all of you around. Hopefully, Sagir would join us at the upcoming one. Have a nice day brother

Hi @AlphaSays , thank you very much. Yes, for sure, it’d be a pleasure. Just let me know a couple of days in advance. BTW, can you send me privately how did you manage to record this meetup?
@nkwetche I salute you, sir! Thank you for the active participation and support
@Ddimitra writing recaps can take so much time, the best thing to do is to write down some points or record then watch the play. If you require further assistant let me know.
@NitaBC Your efforts and interest in joining were remarkable I was so happy you joined us throughout. Thank you!
Thank you @AlphaSays for tagging me on this recap, I learned a lot about “the dos and doesn’t” in virtual meet ups . For me, the virtual meeting will be more popular in the future, as a consequence of the covid/19, so we need to be prepared about how hosting it or attending it.
@AlphaSays and other presenters thank you so much for a wonderful meetup. I still got a lot to learn, you guys gave me so much insightful info. I can’t wait for the next meetup.
@Saidulkarim Thanks so much again brother, your active participation is highly appreciated. You should host a meetup. Try something enjoy and good at, I promise it will be fun.

@RosyKohli I just want to say thank you so much again for always attending my meetups and many other meetups despite the time difference and out your busy schedules. Your efforts and active participation are enough Rosy.
Awesome looking forward to attending your future meetups and having you in mine.
@BeatrizAguilar I am so happy you learned a lot about virtual meetups! Woo hoo let’s make keep up the energy and make the experience better for all. I could not have agreed more with what you said, beyond the local guide community virtual meeting is now and the future of meetings. Post covid-19 it will still take a lot of time for people to adjust to the traditional meeting style.
@I_am_aurorahunter thanks so much for joining, here is the recap at the first page. Enjoy!
It was indeed an incredible one. I was so glad to have learnt about the ‘Red Flags’ - reasons why meetups don’t usually get approved. You did amazing and I hope we can get to do this once again.
@AlphaSays I finally got around to this post, sorry for the very late reply! (yes, I’ve said the forbidden word)
Thank you for hosting it, you provided many improtant tips on virtual meet-ups. And thank you for inviting me to present about Accessibility, I’m seriously so happy about the possitive impact it had.
Thanks again, for the meet-up and the great recap!
