Just before virus prevailed in our City of lights, we (Local Guides From Karachi) got some opportunities for meetups and greet sessions, so following this post is a recap one of these.
Though the meetup was officially a 'map editing walk (Let’s Map Karachi 3) ', but along the way, we took many breathtaking 360 photos too, to add it on Google maps.
As per the meeting routine of meetup, I reached at starting point before time and waited for other attendees, and got joined by @SwalayMuhammad . we waited for fifteen minutes and then started our 360 photo walk & map editing from Dolmen Mall Tariq Road .
As it was friday, some of the shop were closed down while others were open, so it’s made our job more easier to add new places on Google maps with their normal and 360 photos.
We almost covered almost 6 kilometers of market area by walk and on bike & edits 20+ businesses on Google maps.
After Tariq Road and Bahadurabad market we decided to visit an uncovered and newly developed place namely Kidney Hill. I heard about this place some time ago, and it was the great chance to explore the highest point of Karachi.
Recently City Government of Karachi planned to develop forest in this area and planted more than thousand trees there which is really appreciable!!
We reached there and after some difficulties (hiking which I never did before) finally we reached at the peak of the mountain.
But it disappointed me to the core when I saw lot of trash specially plastic bottles, cigarettes packs, wrapper , plastic bags and other trash which was lefted by visitors and making this new tourist place, unvisitable for other potiental tourists. I pointed out this issue in my Google Maps review of Kidney Hill too.
So we cleaned it as we can, because it was responsibility as a sensible citizen and Local guides as well. And we recorded this video message for Karachities convey them message of @ermest and Clean the world campaign & shared it on Social media.?
