[Recap] Make India Green Tree Planting (Supported Meetup)

Each and every winter, the people residing in the national political capital of New Delhi bear the brunt of highly severe air pollution, thanks to several incidents that take place in and around the city during the initial temperature drop. Low visibility and raise in chronic breathing vexations in the area covered with all-day-long smog, take the headlines during the period. People complain, blame, administrations play ping-pong in regard to responsibility, and with the advent of spring, new headlines suppress the annual gas chamber torture at Delhi, pushing the affected await another deadly sequel next winter. :mask:

The Google Local Guides community of New Delhi - the Delhi Local Guides Chapter, however decided to step in and set an instance by actively participating in a battle against pollution last Sunday, when it hosted the ‘Make India Green’ Local Guides meetup at the Elakhi Park, Shakarpur, in presence of 70+ Google Maps contributors from all across the nation, The contemporary and very crucial ideology had direct support from team Google as it happened to earn the status of a ‘Supported Google Local Guides Meetup- the first time ever in India and the second time ever globally! :deciduous_tree:

The Local Guides began gathering at the venue from 9:30 a.m. in the morning, half an hour before the scheduled time and the excitement in their body language set the tone for the event itself early! People gradually showed up at this event, some of them having great distances covered, like @TravellerG from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, @IshantHP_ig from Himachal Pradesh, @veeryoga from Uttarakhand, @BunnyAyush from Madhya Pradesh and more Local Guides in huge numbers from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana. Saplings were arranged early from a local nursery and the container pots were given colorful artistic makeovers by Delhi Local Guides Chapter member @Alphee . As the saplings were brought into the ground, Local Guides stood in a circle to kick off the endeavor.

Post a brief introductory speech on the significance of this meet the co-warriors @JMD9 and Alphee Chauhan, veteran Local Guide TravellerG Sir from Chennai appeared in the show. He felicitated me with a traditional South Indian apparel and thereafter the Local Guides set in their mission, with planting as much as 100 saplings within the compound of the venue over then next hour, as well as each Local Guide adopted 4 saplings per head to plant at home. Their little efforts definitely contributed in favor of saving the mother earth and keeping the natural balance intact for our next generations. :herb: :seedling: :shamrock: :four_leaf_clover: :bamboo:

Once the plantation drive was over, the Local Guides gathered for the mandatory group photograph and a series of selfies, along with the ground staff and the administration members of the ground. It all ended with a treat of local delicacy of Chhole-Bhature for the attendees.

I must congratulate every Local Guide whose presence helped this event attain success. Special credit goes to Prakash Panchal, Alphee Chauhan, @vermatushar1997 , @ReshamDas , and team who set the stage for such a fruitful affair. I would like to call upon the Local Guides communities across the world with members in my friend list to organize recurring meetups in this theme for the zeal of bettering our environment. :hibiscus:

Thank You @TraciC for giving me this opportunity.

Hi @AmbrishVarshney bro

Seriously I am impressed with this initiative. I live in Mount Abu while I do my studies in Udaipur and here people take fresh air for Granted as here people are less and greenery is more but people in North India specially Delhi suffer from poor air quality and only planting trees can solve it…

Just a suggestion bro, do a regular check. At least once a month so that more plants can survive and become trees in future.
