A meetup was scheduled for New Delhi Local Guides on 23rd April, 2017 to gather, meet and discuss the future prospects for the local guides program in New Delhi. I was very much excited when I hosted the meetup and about 7-8 people showed interest as well. I planned everything well before the meetup on what to discuss, how to move forward, what all topics to discuss and how to proceed with the map editing after the meetup.
But on the day of the meetup, only @AjSingh showed up. I was expecting at least 5 members but only one member showed up which made me sad. Nevertheless, we introduced each other, talked a bit about our profession, and later we switched onto the main topic. We discussed about Local Guides Connect, Street View Photography, Contributions, Adding/Editing a place etc. The most interesting part was how we both were introduced to Local Guides Program and we both have different stories. I’m sure everyone here is introduced with one way or another (It would be nice if you share the same).
Then we planned to do a photowalk instead of map editing as 23rd April was the day of Municipal Corporation Elections and most of the small businesses which needs updating were closed. We walked around a lot, entered some restaurants, shops, cafes which were open at that time, clicked lots of picture(on permission), had fun with them and inquired about the required details which we updated on Google Maps. Finally we ended our meetup on a good note and @AjSingh gave me a treat. Thanks Aj 
After he left, I went to church to thank god for making this day memorable and prayed for many more successful meetups in the future.
In brief, following are the things we decided
- To have a regular meetup every month.
- Plan a Geo Walk in the month of May 2017
- Print our own T-shirts, badges, stickers once the members starts showing interest in the meetups.
- Encourage more people to join Local Guides Program and contribute to Google Maps.

This meetup didn’t went as I expected but I enjoyed when I was talking and contributing with @AjS.
I hope New Delhi Local Guides will now take part in meetups so that further meetups will get to see larger participants.
