Streetview photography and especially the blue lines drawn on roads on Google maps are my favorite always. This time I was at the meetup spot and no one joined. So, as a fun activity, I started the meetup with my old motorbike to take 360 coverages filling the gaps of missing places around my home town area in Google Street view.

I created my map and made a mission area as the first step and then I have added them to the created my maps to the GoogleMaps so it will be easy for me to check my mission area since I had the plan to cover more than 10 roads.

The most difficult task is when you are taking such blue line challenges is, there are chances of confusing the street view coverage available when you are in the specific place. In order to minimize this issue I have pre-planned this and made google my map and marked those roads in different colors and then overlayed those into maps. This is will help you to see when you are on the ground.
I rode my bike here and there and finally completed the task successfully. While working on this task, I noticed one road being incorrectly drawn on the map. The existing road was connected to the canal and the canal has been drawn as a road. yes, I have reported that too.
My map overlaying technique is the best idea for this kind of missions
Need to carry an external power bank, when you are super active and need more power for your 360 camera. you do not need to worry if you are using a car (yes you can charge from your vehicle)
You need to wait for some time at a place to clear your video memory from the 360 camera to the phone.
You did a great job, I can imagine how many people will get benifit by your hard work to draw blue lines on Google maps. Alone or with other local guides , you are the person who never give up .
That’s an excellent initiative, @IlankovanT . Thank you very much for tagging me. I loved your idea, and besides, I’m not good at DIY, I’ll try to do it with your tips.
Super stuff @IlankovanT , Great meetup and super cool RECAP. Fun to read and lot’s of useful information… Always there is something new to learn from you. We learned a lot from participating to two of your meetups. Hope to see there RECAPS soon.
I did a Blue line Meetup to connect newly buld highway section from Kadawatha ->Kerawalapitiya. Uploaded the captures to SV and working on the RECAP now.
Putting your place on the map with blue lines is one of the best things you can do for your area. It opens up everything for armchair exploration, trip planning, finding businesses, working out safe routes, etc. Well done @IlankovanT
Thank you so much for tagging me in your post! Thanks also for your exceptional efforts and for your great proactivity! You give a great example to everyone with your conributions! This is indeed an amazing recap!
@IlankovanT Great work! What can be a better way to enjoy a meet-up alone than this activity? I wish I had a 360 to update roads street view in my area!
Wow! I’m astonished at your expertise in Street view @IlankovanT . You are well versed in your skills. I am yet to come on board with the high tech equipment as they are currently unavailable in my region. I mostly make use of the smartphone. It’s a little appalling no one joined your meetup but I’m glad you picked up your stuff and proceeded regardless. This is a motivation to others to never give up. Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m totally filled with new insights from you.
