Hello Local Guides!

I hope everybody is well.

Today I will share with you all my last Meet-up RECAP which was Let’s Explore Tree Fair in Barishal 2022 held on 12 August 2022 at Bell’s Park.

Caption: A lot Different types Domestic and foreign trees for beautification and greening of office, house and balcony

Barishal District Administration and Social Forest Department jointly organized divisional tree fairs in

Bell’s Park.

The interesting thing is that no money was taken from the nursery owners for the stalls in the fair. At the end of the fair, nursery owners will be rewarded on the sale of saplings. It is understood through this activity of Social Forest Department that nursery owners are strongly encouraged to participate in such fairs.

The government has taken the initiative of planting trees on a large scale throughout the country to deal with the adverse effects of climate change, preserve biodiversity and alleviate poverty, create employment, improve the environment along with socio-economic development.

Prioritizing this initiative, plantation and tree fair programs and agricultural advisory programs are continuing at various places across the country.

2020-21 Tree Fair activities in Barishal division were completely closed due to Covit-19. It has been launched again in 2022, that’s why seedling growers and tree lovers are so happy. I am was excited because this is the first time I have attended the tree fair. Excitement was created because I did not know much about trees and agriculture so I attended this fair with great joy. more interesting is that I can explore the fair with few Local Guides.

Caption: I getting the knowledge about different plants from the nursery owner

Most of the nursery owners who participated in the fair are old people who do not know about Google Maps and its use; few of them were young and they knew about Google Maps to see directions. We shared some of our activities about Local Guides to them and told them about your Nursery/Shop add on Google Maps very easily, your customers will find you easily and get more customers.

To help seedling growers or nursery Businesses, I bought three seedlings from there and they were lemon seedlings, guava seedlings and mango seedlings. Those who were with me bought two more, one bought Frangipani and the other bought neem tree.

The fair has various types of native and foreign fruit trees, forest trees, medicinal plants and ornamental flowers, orchids, cactus plants, gardening tools, organic fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, flower tubs, plant vitamins, etc. Along with the sale of trees in the fair. There are also facilities to learn the techniques required for planting and tending trees.

Along with the plants in the fair, there are children’s toys, a variety of showpiece souvenirs for home improvement, clay flowers and artificial trees.

Most of the buyers who came to the fair were people who love rooftop gardening and there are others who love to take care of trees to beautify and greening the house. In this fair most people from the city, so the demand for small flower seedlings was high because there are no more places to plant trees in the city and everyone has to rely on rooftop gardens for planting. There was a high demand for the plants of this type of plants that enhance the beauty of the house, which can be easily maintained in different areas of the house or in the balcony.

By visiting the fair I was really introduced to a variety of new plants that I had never seen before and gathered a variety of knowledge that I didn’t know before. I was introduced to some of these familiar trees at the fair but I was really surprised to know about & price of those trees. More curious people like me come here to have a look at the interesting plants. Basically a 30 to 35 year old Banyan tree is very big but despite being so old, it looks small, that’s why the price is very high.

For your understanding, below are photos of two small size special Banyan plants and another photo of a normal Banyan plant.

Caption: This tree is 32 years old and its current market value is 1 lakh 50 thousand Taka/ approximate 1530$

Caption: This tree is 29 years old and has a current market value of 1 lakh 30 thousand Taka/ approximate 1326$

Caption: This tree is located next to the graveyard of our neighborhood and according to local oldest people, this tree is estimated to be 35 to 40 years old.

Hello dear @KamalHossenR ,

you’re most welcome, dear Guiding Star-friend! :hugs: :star2: :bouquet:

Unfortunately, unfortunately tree fair doesn’t take place here in Hamburg, Germany.

The only event, which I know takes place in another city, in Essen, Germany. It’s an big exhibition.

Essen is 312 kilometers far from Hamburg.

This exhibition is called: ,Internationale Pflanzenmesse" in Englisch: ,International plant fair".

I was there on the 29th of January 2020. :star_struck:

It was really beautiful, they showed amazing arrangements and a lot of flowers, as well as plants. :star_struck: :bouquet: :hibiscus:

And there were great shows where florists did awesome things. :bouquet: :sunflower: :star2:

I wish you a great day and please stay healthy and safe too!

Many warm greetings from Hamburg, Germany! :de: :star2:
