Recap: Lagos Local Guides Beach connect

group picture. I’m behind the camera

It was great hanging out and meeting with friends after long time.

We meet at the agreed meeting point before taking off to the beach.

Tarkwa Bay beach is located in an island about 10minutes boat ride from Lagos Island.

Out of the 25 RSVP only 11made it including me the host.

@esietukeme @MrLabule @Ogebaby @Humblemind @MrFreez @OSeun @Hebra @samuel @cathy and @Ella.

We had intensive discussion on the local Guides programme in general and how best to make quality contributions.

For Cathy this is her first meet up. She is on level 3. She introduced her friend @Ella to the local Guide programme. Ella promised to start contributing and hoping to make positive impact to her community.

All day without play makes Jack a dull boy.

With out further a do with got to the water and had great time…

MrLabule and Ukeme while swimming.

For Ibrahim, Seun and Samuel they went to play Soccer with other people in the beach while Mr Freeze play volleyball with others.

waste bin around the beach.

One lovely thing I will not miss to mention is that, the community around the beach take it on them selves to keep the beach clean. They keep some barrel at intervals for waste management. This makes the beach do clean.

Also by the tents they keep waste baskets for visitors to discard their trash. At the end of the day all waste are collected by Lagos Waste management Agency (LAWMA).

With this it will bring good reduction in the number of plastic that will end up in the ocean.

It’s a very commendable effort.

preparing to go home after great time.

It was another successful meet up at the beach after 2 years.

Coming back to Tarkwa Bay beach was lovely after a long while. Meeting new local guides made it even more fun as we took time introducing ourselves and answering questions whilst sharing information about the local guides community.

Thank you @Sagir for bringing us out again. Hoping to see you soon again.

Hello @Sagir

This is lovely although I missed it. Nice to see @MrLabule and @MrFreez and others. Let’s do this again sometime in the future. I might make a jail break into Lagos sometime soon. A decent foodie meet-up is the thing I’ll love. Keep your fingers crossed. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Cheers

Thank you @Sagir for being a wonderful host you are indeed a community builder.

My attendance was doubtful because i had to work that day, so I made time to visit the beaching team before they took their boat ride to the beach and promised to make effort to attend if I had the slightest opportunity. Thankfully I had a small break and since i was working in the port along the waterfront it wasn’t difficult getting a speed boat to join other local guides at Tarkwa bay, and I was happy to be at the meetup with other local guides.

Thanks so much for hosting us. It was my first time at the beach and I was opportune to meet new people. On top of that, I learnt more about the Google Local Guide activities, and how to make Google maps better and more effective for it’s users. I’m so excited as I look forward to attending the next meetup.
