It’s 2019 and we made the first Lagos 360 Streetview Photowalk a success! The sole aim of this meetup was to share knowledge and experience about taking great 360 streetview images whilst being a Local Guide.
360 StreetView Images on Google Maps help people to see and feel the whole experience of a particular place in one instance. Such features such as accessibility, parking, relaxation points and information centers are also captured in these images. The need for multiple and duplicate images is eliminated with the advent of photospheres - typically 360 images. They capture the whole surroundings and are detailed. Often, I prefer to view photospheres of places I want to visit because they provide deeper insight into how a place looks like all round. Just like reviews, they give more visual information of places.
From observations, many places and important landmarks still lack 360 images within Lagos. So, the more Local Guides are able to capture photosperes for the Google Maps, the better for everyone. The meetup was really fun as we had a great time learning the tips and tricks of streetview images.
We set out for the walk and captured multiple locations and important buildings on the downtown Victoria Island area of Lagos. It was a really beautiful and fair-weather weekend which made the walk more enjoyable for us. For some attendees, it was their first ever meetup and they had a great time.
We walked a total of about 3.1km from 10 am to 12pm within a planned route. There were lots of 360 turns that turned out to be fun for everyone! Alas, we had a group get-together at the most popular pizzeria in Lagos.
We look forward to having another streetview photowalk on a massive scale with more attendees. @olorunyommy @MrFreez @Demolarogers @user_not_found
@ahonsijulia @wuraolao were amazing people with lots of energy and passion for photos.
