It was sunny weather and early morning when we started our walk. One of the local guides (named Sai Teja) of Kachiguda area joined me at 08:00 AM near Koti. He was new to the Local Guides programme and was very curious to know more about it. So, I’ve explained to him how to edit places, add places, add photos and reviews on Google Maps. And also I’ve introduced him to Local Guides Connect platform in which we can share our views, submit ideas and make friends all around the planet. Looking forward to seeing him on Connect.
Anyways by 08:30 AM we started the walk by wandering around Sultan Bazar - Koti road editing places and removing duplicates. Meanwhile, we’ve found a place where you can see birds mainly pigeons in the park; the place is known as Pigeon Park or Kabootar Khana (an Urdu word; where Kabootar means ‘Pigeon’, Khana means ‘park’). Just opposite to that park there was an abandoned school named Harish Chandra Gyan Kumari Heda Model High School for which I’ve marked it as permanently closed and my edit is pending.
From there we went towards Gokul Chat., luckily we found a newly installed water ATM just opposite to Gokul Chat. Meanwhile, we’ve corrected the location and timing of some stores.
Finally, we got tired of walking (around 3 miles) and decided to have some snacks. Then I searched the Quick Bites which is in the explore tab of Maps then it quickly showed us the list of places. We picked the first one called Pragathi Tiffin Centre and move towards that place. When we reached there was a huge crowd waiting, eating and enjoying the breakfast. Then we ordered 2 plates of Idly and 2 Butter Paneer Masala Dosa expecting to get served early as written in many of the comments that they serve very fast. Do you know they served us in less than 5 minutes? Incredible! After having a stomach full of breakfast I’ve written a delicious review which also got 12 likes; Haha… I think my review is helpful.
What I’ve learned in this walk?
In this walk, we came to know about the surprising features of the explore tab in Maps by which we’ve found a mouthwatering breakfast restaurant. And also the comment search bar was helpful. Before ordering breakfast, we’ve searched the keywords like ‘fast’ & ‘quick’ in the comment search bar surprisingly there were many comments displaying fast service else quick service. This thing saved our time and no doubt it is saving others time as well. Well done Google Maps team.
