Recap:Kisumu Downtown Map Editing

First apologies for the late recap. We met at Kisumu playground at 1pm, it was hot and sunny. As the host, I introduced myself and later gave other attendees an opportunity to introduce themselves. We were actually four in number namely @NickOmondi @WaynePeter , Kim Mobe and Selestine Oseda.

Kisumu City is quite huge so we chose to carry out the activity downtown the city which we noticed had many businesses that are not mapped. Accra road, Otieno Oyo road and Obote road are all referred to by locals as Kamas. The streets are full of auto parts shops, garages and hardware shops.

The reception by the businesses we managed to map was amazing. They were

excited to see their businesses on the map.

Some even allowed us to enter into their shops and take photos of items.

Two things we learnt about map editing are; you can’t do it in one day given that as local guides, we want to make maps a better place for everyone and two you need power backup.

Here is the recap video for the meetup and I look forward to hosting another one soon. Thanks.

Thanks for the insight. Indeed seeing Goople Map enthusiast like me gives me more inspiration.
Together we would place the whole of Africa on the Google Map.

Thumbs up @NickOmondi
