On 8th January 2023, a sunny Sunday morning in Karachi, a group of Local Guides gathered at Kidney Hills Park for a photo walk. The meetup was hosted by me and was submitted on Connect to meet more new people from Karachi.
Some months ago I wrote a separate post about this beautiful tourist attraction on Connect, but let me share with you some basic information about it.
"This place also has the honor that It is said to be the highest point in Karachi, This is because the area in which Kidney Hills Park is located is just much above sea level.
The unique fact about this 62-acre area and the reason behind which is called the green lung of Karachi, is the transplantation of thousands of trees uprooted, along with the plantation of fruit-bearing trees, shrubs, and plants at the park can make it a Green Lung, an urban forest cleansing the air of the metropolis. In the middle of the city, Kidney Hill is a place that offers a view of the natural forest, where thousands of different trees have been planted to hear the chirping of various birds."
Photo Walk:
As per our plan, we all reached Kidney Hills Park at 10 Am. This time again, unfortunately, no new people but @DrFoodieOfficial (Rizwan Shah), @Shaheen_Gul , and @Bilal_shaikh , who are avid photographers and enthusiastic members of the Local Guides community from Pakistan. And alsoNeo News TV channel made a short documentary on initiatives by Google Local Guides activities in Pakistan regarding the promotion of Tourism in Pakistan
We were armed with our cameras and ready to capture the beauty of the park. As we explored the park together and captured stunning images of the lush greenery, sparkling fountains, and vibrant flowers.
In our recent visit, we got to know the amazing news that Around 40,000 different plants and trees were planted at Karachi Kidney Hill Park which has started producing fruits and flowers.
The area is quite big and has a lot of space for long walks and hiking. But still Facilities this place lack basic facilities like washrooms. Ample amount of trash bins available throughout the area.
Wherever people come for a walk at the highest level in Karachi is ground level with a height of 219 feet from where the whole city can be seen.
We stopped at several scenic spots, where we shared tips and tricks for taking better photos with our smartphones and cameras. The photo walk was a great success, with everyone coming away with some amazing shots. And also discussed our experiences as Local Guides, and the impact we could make by promoting more local businesses and tourist destinations in Pakistan.
Kidney Hills is not just an urban forest for Karachi, but now an enjoyable Hiking & Picnic area for the people of Karachi who often can’t visit northern areas of Pakistan or any mountain areas, so they can enjoy their evenings with family and friends at the place which is now a new Landmark of Karachi.
The most wonderful thing about Kidney Hill Park is that place is
Accessibility-friendly. Anyone who has different abilities can use walking & Jogging tracks for Wheelchairs, here is My Google Maps Review which can guide people who wants to visit Kidney Hill Karachi.
The event was a great success, and even caught the attention of the local media. As I mentioned above, Neo News TV channel sent a crew with a very energetic reporter Miss Hafsa Shaikh to document the initiative by Google Local Guides activities in Pakistan and how they were promoting tourism in the country. They interviewed us, and we shared our thoughts on the importance of showcasing Pakistan’s natural beauty to the world. Which was on air on the next day in every our news bulletin on TV and also at Facebook and YouTube live streaming…
The reporter was impressed by our efforts.
The documentary also highlighted the importance of Local Guides in helping tourists discover hidden gems and off-the-beaten-path destinations in Pakistan. And highlighted the important work being done by Google Local Guides in Pakistan and encouraged viewers to join the initiative and contribute to the cause. The resulting documentary was widely shared on social media and sparked a lot of interest in the Local Guides program. It also encouraged more people to join the community and contribute to promoting the rich culture and heritage of Pakistan.
Overall, the Kidney Hills Park meetup was a huge success, bringing together like-minded individuals who share a passion for promoting tourism in Pakistan. With the help of dedicated individuals like Rizwan Shah, Shaheen Gul, and Muhammad Bilal, the Local Guides initiative is making a real impact and inspiring others to get involved.
At the end of the meet-up, we all went to get our Sunday Swags which was Channa, Halwa and Puri at Faisal MilkTariq Road ![]()
