Video recap:https://youtu.be/CX5Tgkb4vAQ
Who we are?
- We are the Nepal Local Guides participating in a meetup event.
Why was this event?
- To exhibit a strong cohesion with global event ‘Worldwide Food Crawl’ and present the active participation of our country as well as to feature a typical Nepali food with the globe.
What was the slogan of the event?
Where was the event venue?
Which food had we featured?
- As announced while applying for a meet-up, a typical Newari food ‘Bara’ is what we had featured.
Why was ‘Bara’ chosen?
- It’s because Bara is one of typical virgin food for other nations. There are a lot to feature but this time ‘Bara’ secured its place.
How many types of Bara can be found?
- Simply they can be categorized in two types: veg and non-veg. Non-veg Bara has multiple types like egg Bara, Buff Bara etc. depending upon the type of meat used.
How is Bara prepared?
- A mixture of water and black lentil wheat in an appropriate proportion is prepared. Pan is placed over oven and little amount of oil is poured on it. Appropriate size of wheat ball is placed on hot pan and given a shape of disc using hands. Salt is also spreaded in required amount. The prepared Bara is veg type. If egg is also added then it’s called egg Bara and so on. Video will clear your mind on it.
How it tastes?
- It tastes yummy. Words may not be appropriate to describe better than what tongue feels.
Beside Bara, what else to see in a video?
- Obviously our main focus for this event was Bara. But we have shown venue of the event in the video. The venue is not other than a UNESCO world heritage site Patan Gurbar Square premises. We were so lucky that we got a chance to capture special Newari Cultural Dance performed there.
Anything else remained to share?
- One can see another food called Panipuri in a video. There’s a real fact beyond this. Fortunately we found other local guide Abhishek inside Durbar Square area who was actively working there for a social cause. He and a team were selling Panipuri in a reasonable cost to collect a money for establishing ‘Read at online Education’ which aims to provide online education excess to school children. We have a salutation for this campaign.
Where is the photo album?
- First of all thanks to all participants for adding their photos to the album. There are much more food items to see in the album. Please click the following link and give us a feedback there too. It’s not required that you need to react positively. What we expect from you all is being factual while commenting.

- It’s very simple to reach the place. There is Lagankhel Bus Station nearby. A little walk from bus park is sufficient to reach the place. Checking on Google map by clicking here is another way to be there easily.
What’s the participant’s reaction after the event?

- Laxmi Gautam: Enjoyed a lot today.

Words from Host ( @Bishowvijaya )
- _We crawled successfully on Bara likewise many local guides around the globe crawled on food the same day. Worldwide food crawl was of course a best concept and thanks to @BudionoS for networking food crawl events around the globe in parallel with your idea. Also thanks to all guides around the globe for virtual presence by words, support or discussion. Dear all, enjoy the food crawl but never waste the food. We bought the food means we earned the right of eating food but not of wasting it._🙏 Thank you so much for your time.
