[Recap] Kalutara Photo Walk 2019

It was a raining day. I thought we might have to cancel the Meetup. I got a call from @ChameeraM around 4.45pm and he said he is already at the Kalutara Bodhiya. I was very happy as I know I will if there is two, we can host a successful Meetup.
Anuradha and Chameera with his LG 360 Camera

I went before five and as soon as I entered the premises, it started to rain. We thought we should start the Meetup from the image house. We took photos of the image house. Suddenly, I saw Chameera was opening a cover. It was his new LG 360 camera. We started to take 360 photos.

Then we move to the Ananda Bodhiya inside the premises. It was a newly built worshipping place. There were lots of people and they were chanting. Please watch the recap video of the Meetup to hear them.

Then we moved to the main attraction in the temple, Kalutara Bodhiya. There we took lots of normal and 350 photos. We saw how people are offering water to the Boo tree.

This Boo tree is situated near the Galle - Colombo main road and all most all the vehicles passing by Kalutara Bodhiya stop their vehicles and put money to the till boxes. People believe this act will protect them. See it for yourself by clicking on this link.

Then we went to the Kalutara Chaythaya which located opposite side of the Kalutara Bodhiya. It is the Icon of Kalutara and modern engineering gem. The structure is first thin hemispherical shell in Sri Lanka. It was a creation of Dr. A N S Kulasinghe. We did a Street View inside the thin hemispherical shell. Have a look.

Finally, we concluded our walk and the rain was not that heavy.

Enjoy the recap video.

Hi @AnuradhaP , @ChameeraM,

I’m really happy that you guys managed to meet and take these beautiful photos even though it was raining.

Your photo gallery is beautiful and I liked the video, too.

I hope that next time the weather will be better and more Local Guides from Sri Lanka and your area will be able to join you!
