[RECAP] Journey of harmony. Part 1

Good morning, Good noon and Good evening.

Assalam o Alaikum.

Hello everyone how are you all doing and greetings from Pakistan.

I Hope everyone’s time is going well and everyone is safe.

Previously I brought up the idea of starting a series of interactive virtual meet-ups/posts which would require local guides to give their feedback/interactions on that topic.

As I was sure that it would be a source of a lot of knowledge and fun.

The first meet up of the series was entitled as:

FLAG of your country.”

On the day of meet-up, we shared info about our country’s flag. The LGs were sharing facts and figures with joy and patriotism. So here’s the brief recap of the meet-up.

The national flag is the symbol of national pride, patriotism, unity, faith and discipline.

Before we proceed to the recap, let us have a quick look at some amazing facts and general protocols about the national flag of any country.

National flag protocols:-

These are the general protocols for the flags all over the world and of all countries.

  • No other flag or colour must fly higher than the national flag.
  • The National Flag must be displayed or flown side by side the height of other national flags.
  • If there are two flags or colours, the National Flag should be flown at the right side.
  • The National Flag must be higher, when displayed alongside provincial, military or corporate flags.
  • The national flag must not touch the ground, shoes or feet or anything unclean.
  • The national flag must never be flown in darkness.
  • The national flag must be raised at dawn and lowered at dusk.
  • The national flag must not be marked with anything (including words, numerals or images).
  • The national flag must be raised or lowered ceremoniously.
  • The national flag must not be displayed anywhere where it is likely to get dirty.
  • The national flag must not be set on fire or trampled upon.

which translates to

  • After the WWII, at the time of independence of Pakistan in 1947, the flag of the All India Muslim League (major political party) served as the basis for the flag of Pakistan.

And a blue rectangle in the canton (referred to specifically as the “union”) bearing fifty small, white, five-pointed stars arranged in nine offset horizontal rows, where rows of six stars (top and bottom) alternate with rows of five stars. The 50 stars on the flag represent the 50 states of the United States of America.

  • The White middle colour indicates Peace, Unity and Truth & In white colour.
  • There is navy blue Chakra it has 24 spokes it’s known as Ashoka Chakra.
  • The Green colour shows the Faith & Fertility growth of the land.

Every free country has its own flag. It is a symbol of a free country. The National Flag of India was adopted in its present form during the meeting of Constituent Assembly held on the 22 July 1947, a few days before India’s independence on 15 August, 1947. It served as the national flag of the Dominion of India between 15 August 1947 and 26 January 1950 and that of the Republic of India thereafter. In India, the term “tricolour” refers to the Indian national flag.

  • The republic of Uganda:-

LG @wt_lambert added :

The Uganda Flag consists of six equal horizontal bands of black (top), yellow, red, black, yellow, and red (bottom); a white disc is superimposed at the centre and depicts the national symbol, a grey crowned crane, facing the hoist side.

The three colours are representative of:

  • African peoples (black),
  • Africa’s sunshine (yellow),
  • and African brotherhood (red being the colour of blood, through which all Africans are connected).

The flag was designed by the Ugandan Minister of Justice, Grace Ibingira.

  • The People’s republic of Bangladesh.

LG @RhoqueBD shared the info about the flag of his country.

The flag is based on a similar flag used during 1971, which had a yellow map of the country inside the red disc. In 1972 this map was removed from the flag. One reason given was the difficulty for rendering the map correctly on both sides of the flag. The civil ensign and naval ensign place it in the canton of a red or white field, respectively.

The national flag of Bangladesh was adopted officially on 17 January 1972. It consists of a red disc on top (similar to that on Japan’s flag) of a green field. The red disc is offset slightly toward the hoist so that it appears centred when the flag is flying. The disc represents the sun rising over Bengal, and also the blood of those who died for the independence of Bangladesh. The green field stands for the lushness of the land of Bangladesh and the eternal youth of Bangladeshis.

  • The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Our dear friend LG @راضي added info about the flag of KSA.

The flag of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the one of the simplest flags in the world.

  • The flag is green in colour which represents peace and Islam.
  • The first Kalimah ( one of the six Kalimahs AKA Six Traditions or the Six Phrases) of Islam is written on it Which reads :

“لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله”

This means:

“There is no God but ALLAH; MUHAMMAD (PBUH ﷺ) is the messenger of ALLAH”

  • The sword represents justice, force and power.

  • Federal republic of Nigeria.

Our energetic friend Lg @Ewaade_3A shared the info about the flag of Nigeria with joy.

The flag of Nigeria was designed in 1959. For the first time it was officially hoisted on 1 October 1960. The flag has three vertical bands of green, white, green.

  • The green stripes on the flag represent the natural wealth of the nation.
  • White represents unity and peace.
  • Also green stands for agriculture and white for unity and peace.

To sum it up, this virtual meet-up was one of its kind and a lot of fun.

If you think your country’s flag should be up here, and people should know about your country’s flag too, do comment and tell us about it. i would love to read about your side too.
