[Recap] It's a Melbourne Feeling

On Saturday December 18th an intrepid group of Local Guides from around Melbourne got together to celebrate the unmasking of the city after Covid which came less than a week before the remasking but that is another story for another day.

The purpose of the meet-up was purely social, but as it happened we visited several small businesses and updated Maps because that is what we do :).

We sttarted the meet-up at The Atrium one of Melbourne’s architectural modern wonders, love it or hate it everyone agrees its a recognisable landmark.

Because we had not seen each other for ages and it was still a bit warm, we enjoyed a refreshing ale and munchies in Beer DeLuxe Fed Square.

Eventually the cool change rolled in so we started to walk visiting so many places around Melbourne including the graffiti capital Hosier Lane; and AC/DC Lane; before heading North West through the city enjoying the pedestrian spaces before taking a yummy Korean dinner at Namsan.

After dinner we strolled around some more eventually walking back to where we started and our goodbyes for the night.

Along the way each public toilet used was photographed and updated and in one case added to Maps with cleanliness and accessibility information. Photos were added to plenty of places, but mostly we simply had fun in the company we’d missed for so long in the city we all love.

You can find my photos of Melbourne’s Street Art and our street culture envisaged in the people in the street at https://photos.app.goo.gl/DCjTYbUffBHQgeLKA

If you’re interested in joining like minded people on future walks keep an eye out here or the Melbourne Local Guides on insta.

A few cleansing ales, then a meal!

Great work! :slightly_smiling_face:

@PaulPavlinovich It’s so nice you got to meet again after a long time! I’m sure that alone was great, although of course what you guys did seems very interesting and fun. I love korean food, and it seems like you went through lots of places perfect for photography. I miss you and your meet-ups!

Have a great end of the year :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes @Catman88 it is an Olympus - the OM-D Em1 Mk ii oh and always with the cleansing ales - a little liquid courage always helps with street photography :).

@KamalHossenR thanks for saying :slightly_smiling_face:

@Sophia_Cambodia so are we my friend - so are we

Indeed it is @iorikun301 we all need to get out and play

Thanks @Cecilita we did have a great time - after each of us has only had the company of our families (and in at least one case in the group flying solo) for so long we really enjoyed some togetherness

@Jesi such a long time indeed - I have to admit that fun is the first goal of any meet-ups I run, photos and Maps are secondary - we need to be happy ourselves to contribute well - the meet-up was very adhoc but everyone in the group had some ideas of where to go and we did visit plenty of places. Miss you too mate - love seeing you pop up on Instagram and seeing your learning and career progressing!
