Super meet-up and participation of local guides. This wasn’t a crowded meet-up of local guides, but the few local guides that attended participated fully well and we also had fun which is an important aspect of every meet-up. All work and no play they say, makes Jack…
A seven point summary of our activities during the meet-up.
- We looked out for new departments that have been created but not updated in the maps(directory) and we added and also edited
- Facilities like banks, supermarkets eateries etc that are in the hospital premises but not indicated on the maps and added them to help patients and map users find them easily for their own use.
- We checked for accessibility features in the hospital premises and found a few.
- We added some streetview photos of about 3 parts of the hospital
- We shared our knowledge on map editing and learned quite a bit from one another during the meet-up.
- We were able to talk to the staff of the Isolation centre of the hospital about our meet-up and hospital edit
- The 7th point we had fun and Item 7 at a restaurant in the premises and Reviewed it a well as added photos and videos of the place.
The venue of the meet-up as stipulated was University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital . It took place last Saturday the 19th of February 2022. It’s attached to the university and it’s a very huge hospital, well planned and constructed. It’s a world class hospital, that has virtually all departments of medical health as I mentioned in my Review later on after the meet-up. The meet-up began a few minutes behind the scheduled time, nevertheless we started straight into the activities of editing, taking photographs etc. @BriggsPh and I took some 360° photos about 3 which was immediately approved and featured on the hospital site on the maps. The first place I noticed in the hospital premises wasn’t on the map was a bank. I added that and it was approved immediately. Some 2 other departments of the hospital was instantly approved which was great. The hospital has really and it’s still expanding so the hospital edit walk was really necessary and timely. We appreciate @Sagir invitation to participate in this and his initiative to edit hospital. This can help save a life.
A photo of a sign showing accessibility parking space I was specially delighted to see this and I believe @EmekaUlor and @TusharSuradkar might be interested in that as accessibility champions. There are other sign we saw that really made the meet-up worth it and the photo helpful to add to the maps
This is a road that passes right infront of he hospital block so we added this as well.
One of the departments we added was instantly approved and my photo featured, what more it appeared immediately on the maps wow !!! It’s the
We had a nice encounter with the staff of the isolation centre. We were asked who we were and what we were doing? We kindly explained to them and they were very nice and happy for that. Ooops !!! we have to leave here, it’s an isolation centre we shouldn’t be in here at all LOL !!! We said our goodbyes left as quick as we can all in the laughing out and light mode. it also had a supermarket inside the teaching hospital premises,we stopped for a cold drink and a shot.
@MrBest was absent due to personal reasons and some others didn’t turn up for the meet-up. The meet-up took about 2hrs of nice walk and friendly chat. As a foodie and as the host,I advised that we have the Item 7 to close up the meet-up.
We ended up at Green House Catering
