I always enjoy having a meet-up either with others or even a solo one. The most important thing is that you are helping to make the maps better and that you enjoy doing what you are doing to improve the maps.
It’s a good while ago I organised a meet-up so this one is well overdue and welcome. Many thanks to @Sagir for this worldwide hospital edit walk season 6.0. I participated last year Here(RECAP-Hospital-edit-walk-Port-Harcourt-2022) and now I’m happy I can participate again although in a solo way this time and in a different country or region other than mine.
This year my solo meet-up,still in west Africa as always but different from Nigeria. This meet-up was organised in Liberia and in Nimba County,in the city of Ganta. This region is in the North of Liberia very close to the border of Guinea Conakry. Seeing its a small town I decided to reach out and edit more than one hospital. My first port of call was in Ganta Methodist Hospital
Activities performed during meet-up
- A walk around the hospital premises
- Adding photos of certain places that are not already on the map
- Editing some other departments of the hospital that are not represented on the maps
- Adding a clear and better front view and entrance photo of the hospital on the maps.
- Answering questions yes/No about the hospital.
- Spoke with at least one member of staff in the hospital.
Next venue visited was Ganta United Methodist hospital vision Centre which was very close by. It was a much smaller one therefore I was only able to add one photo. I got a notification that it was featured on tbe maps!!!
Observation & conclusion of meet-up .
- I realised that at least 2 other major bigger and better hospitals than the ones visited were not on the maps.
- I tried to add them, but they are still pending aa we speak.
- I tied to add one major department in the main hospital I visited and realised the old problem, edit to hospitals and clinics are quite difficult to get approval. Otherwise In general I get approval to my edits very quickly, maybe in few minutes or at most in less than an hour.
- The only activities carried out was adding photos and answering questions.
In all I enjoyed the meet-up even though it was a solo one. Improving the maps is always an interesting thing for local guides. Thank you Sagir for giving local guides the initiatives to edit and improve the maps. Wish you all the best for your own and all others who would participate. Enjoy your meet-up.
N.B I’ll try to join yours tomorrow Dv seeing it is virtual. I can also participate. Thanks and see you tomorrow
Cheers
