Last Saturday I scheduled a meet up to help the local independent shops community of Fargo Village with Map Editing.

Fargo Village (https://goo.gl/maps/YTQfU6J9DjP2)
The village is a great shopping and locals area in Coventry, but the owners are not very tech savvy. So even though people are looking the visit their shops, they’re usually disappointed to arrive where the hours are incorrect, the type of business is wrong, or especially the address and where it is located on the map is not right.
Even though no one was able to turn up for the meet-up, I went ahead and worked on it for a couple hours myself anyway.
I started at Bubble Boba, which was the meet-up point, had a drink, and headed out from there.
I was happy to know that the shop owners were grateful for my time spent.
One even said “I’m so happy you’re doing this. I don’t have the time or knowledge for this sort of thing. I was so annoyed because I can see on Google Maps my shop info is wrong, and I tried to change it myself, but nothing happened.”
These are just a few photos of the confirmation photos for doing the edits.
I was also surprised to see the lack of reviews for alot of these places too. It seemed the only ones who had many, were the ones who were more technically inclined. But now that hopefully their geolocation edit will go live, a customer may be prompted to leave a review after they visit.
I must have done about 100 edits within the editing app. I noticed that some have already gone live on Google Maps.
I was disappointed no one showed up, but I did it anyways because my only goal was to help the local shop owners. I feel I achieved this to an extent, although there were still about 10 shops I didn’t get to this time around. Perhaps I’ll try to host another meet-up in the future there again for more edits.
