[Recap] Explore Tangail with Local Guides Bangla

Assalamualaikum,

How are Local Guides friends? Congratulations to the Local Guides who have been selected for Connect Live 2019! Last Friday (September 27, 2019), a Geo Walk Meet-Up was organized in collaboration with the Local Guides Bengal, named Explore Tangail with Local Guides Bangla. So, today I came to share with you the Recap of that Meet-Up!

Meet-Up Details:
Meet-Up Name: Explore Tangail with LG Bangla
Location: Mohera Jomidar Bari
Date: September 14, 2019
Duration: 6:00 hours

Interestingly, the day was World Tourism Day and our Meet-Up type was Geo Walk. Through this Geo Walk Meet-Up, we have explored many new places, including two Landlord Houses, an old educational institute and a historical Mosque. Also through this Meet-Up, we took many pictures, uploaded them on Google Maps and edited some of the location information in this area.

The Meet-up took place at Mahera Jamindar Bari in Tangail district and this Landlord house was the main place of this Meet-Up. The four of us, myself ( @ShahMdSultan ), @ShafiulB brother, @Mohammadalauddin brother, and @bdmafuz brother went to Tangail from Dhaka by Nilsagor Express train. Due to the train delay, it was a bit late for us to reach Tangail.

We got down at the Mohera Railway Station. Then, we have taken our breakfast at a local shop. Then we have started towards to Mohera Jamindar Bari by a CNG.

Here are some facts about the Mohera Jamindar Bari:

The Landlord house is mainly surrounded by four buildings, namely: Maharaj Lodge, Ananda Lodge, Chowdhury Lodge, and Kalicharan Lodge. The Maharaja’s Lodge is the largest building in the landlord’s house. The total area of the Landlord house is 5 acres. It is currently being used as a Police Training Center. Various buildings of this magnificent and traditional landlord house have been opened to the general public. Entry price is 80 taka per person.

During this Meet-Up, suddenly I met a college friend. He is currently working in the police department. Then, I introduced him to everyone. We have talked to him about this Meet-Up and its activities. After we finished the Jummah prayers and lunch, we left here for going to Korotia Jamindar house.

Before going to Karotia Landlord house, we went to Government Saadat College and updated some places information, added some places and updated the pictures on Google Maps. Then I went to Karotia Jamidar Bari. We couldn’t stay here much time due to this landlord house is not open for all. Currently, this house is owned by individuals.

On our way to the Tangail railway station, we suddenly see a beautiful mosque. Its name is Karotia Central Jama Masjid. It’s an old and historical mosque in this area. The founder of this mosque is Landlord Saadat Ali Khan Ponni. This beautiful mosque was built between 1871 to 1892.

Then we came to Tangail railway station with a CNG. We have taken an evening train for coming back to Dhaka. And, we end our meet-Up at here.

Many thanks to everyone who joined this meetup and made this Meet-Up more successful.

We have explored below places:

And here are some places that we have added during the Meet-Up:

Also during the Meet-Up, we uploaded a lot of pictures in different places on Google Maps.
