[RECAP] Enjoying the Christmas Spirit in Tallinn

Tallinn Christmas Market Photowalk Meetup

The first time I visited the Tallinn Christmas Market in the winter 2018. This fairy place delighted me with its charming live atmosphere and long warm traditions!

I had in my mind an idea to invite Local Guides to enjoy fabulous Christmas Spirit together on Tallinn Christmas Market Photowalk Meetup.

And I’m very happy that you accepted my invitation!

Definitely, it’s becoming a wonderful tradition, that our Meetup in Tallinn, Estonia has an international composition of Tallinn Local Guides (Aleksandr @unhombre, Tatiana and their little daughter Dasha) and Mykolaiv Local Guides (me and Pavel @Shipmaster) and even more than that, we had with us Julia JuliaM from Ukraineand Abdullah @Ruxellan fromBangladesh!

My warm hug to JuliaM who came from Kyiv, Ukraine to join our Meetup. She is a very active attendee of #TeamUkraine meetups by @uavalentine in Kyiv and we were very happy to meet Julia in Taalliiiiinn!!!

Tallinn Christmas Market

In winter from mid-November to early January, the ancient Town Hall Square turns into a magical Christmas market. The tradition of Christmas festivities dates back to 1441, when the first Christmas tree was installed here.

That’s bright, beautiful, fabulous! There are numerous stalls with all kinds of handicrafts and souvenirs, toys, knitted warm clothes, various snacks and tasty treats. Smells of mulled wine and gingerbread. All around with Christmas lights and decorations!

During our Meetup we were walking around the Christmas Market, enjoying the Christmas Spirit and took wonderful pictures. Surely, we didn’t forget about our mission as a Local Guide - uploading photo, writing reviews, editing and answering questions!

You can find more our photos and videos of the amazing Tallinn Christmas Market in Photo Album

To warm ourselves after a long walk we went to a cafe Pagaripoisid which offers traditional Estonian pastries. We continued our conversation and knowledge exchange about Google Maps new features over hot tea and cocoa.

I’m glad to share with you a magical atmosphere of our Tallinn Christmas Market Photowalk Meetup in my short video

Another wonderful surprise was waiting for me when we got home after Meetup!!!

Aleksandr @unhombre shared with me this photo. Their little daughter Dasha, who spent this wonderful day with us, drew this real Local Guides flag! So touching!

New generation of Local Guides is growing!!!

Best wishes! Seee youuuu sooooon!!!

Hi @JaneBurunina ,

Thanks a lot for the nice recap!

I’ve been waiting for it! I am curious what did you try there? Do they have something like Stolen and mulled wine like in Germany?

I can see that you had a great time there and a lot of Local Guides attended it!
