[RECAP] Dubai Worldwide Geo Walk Meet-up

26 August 2017 Dubai Festival City

So, as initiated by the local guides to have more fun, we started the journey with @HelloSamsonR last month, then moving forward, we have joined the Worldwide Geo Walk Meet-up which was initiated by @OSAMA , in parallel with more than 30 cities around the world, it was our pleasure to be part of the team for the Worldwide Geo Walk , as its still hot outside in Dubai, indoor meetup was the only option for us and Dubai Festival City - DFC was selected for our meet-up and all mall security approvals managed and approved to take photos

DFC is one of Dubai’s most iconic shopping destinations for travelers, also offers one of the best views of the Dubai Creek, Burj Khalifa and sunsets from Festival Bay in addition to the hotels connected to the mall

And we started as planned on 26 August 2017 11:00 @ DFC, it was my pleasure to meet 2 Local Guides stars, @Carl and @sarathg and we left the place around 14:45 , so we exceed the planned 2 hours

The meet up started with discussion about maps, features, and our community, then we started taking the photos outside where we had Emarati gentleman who joined us for a photo, as it was hot outside we had to rush to main gallery where we had the chance for good views and photos, moving around we have captured newly open shops, restaurant and added lots of photos, the time was full of discussion and fun

Then on the way back we identified and Emarati restaurant which presenting the old life of Dubai, photos will explain more, so we had a quick bite and drinks

During the meet up we got chance to visit famous, large and well-designed places and shops, simple, luxurious, modern, small and stylish places

Overall it was a successful and positive meet-up, new places identified for us, we enjoyed the discussion and meeting each other and contribute to the map

Estimate steps count was 12,000 step

In fact a big thanks to @Carl and @sarathg for joining the meet up and make it happen and successful

The place was really nice and its feels like a combination of connected malls, each area has different style and designed in a way to make the visitors comfortable and on top of them 2 hotels

In our meet-up we got the chance to visit new shops, most if not all having an amazing interior design, personally I like it, for example Robinsons, Sugar Factory and AlFanar

In addition we couldn’t capture the night show which combines the lazer, Water projection, Lights music and Fire

Yes, the place is luxury, but I see in every single city a full balance where if you extra part, you might miss other part , and every city has it own taste and beautiful life

Sure whenever you get a chance to visit UAE, will be more than welcome to to meet here

Haha @MuhannadK , I did see the last photo of your album! Very lucky to capture that in that moment! I enjoyed your recap and photos. How hot was it that day? I know Dubai can easily get to the 40C.

Besides the American fast food places, funny to see PF Changs, Kate Spade, Cheesecake Factory at your shopping center. It’s just like walking around my local mall too,

BTW, after walking 12,000 steps, there are no dessert calories left. = )

@OSAMA sure, I am always ready for more meetups
@KarenVChin in August the average temperature during the day 45+ , sure on the internet might show 40 but for sure it will feel more, in the car usually its showing 46 to 48, few weeks back reached 52 , and you are right for the American restaurants, in Dubai there are a lot of international restaurants which makes all visitors to feel like home, any many other restaurants from all other the world, sure American restaurants are the most common
Overall it was really nice meetup and we spent more time than what was originally planed and couldn’t resist sweets at the end

@Jnjoe for the step count, its tricky as I keep the it running, the place is big and never thought we’ll be walking that much, but sure step count can be one of the meetup dimension

@AlejandraMaria you are right the roof is well designed, we had to move to different places to show view, few years back it was only half of it, 1 year back they changed 50% of the mall design and now its much bigger

So it will be good to show more photos about the mall …

This is what interesting that things keep changing constantly and every new visit you feel you are at new place even if visit the place in previous visit

Haha @MuhannadK , we just had that - 40C- 46C the past weekend here in the SF Bay Area. At 50C+, we are talking about a desert - Las Vegas HOT! In Dubai, is there a lot of use for solar panels.
