It’s my pleasure to announce you that we held our second Local Guides Meetups in Douala last Saturday 3rd November evening at Complexe Frulatti. Despite the timid beginning of activities, we started with individual presentations of the participant : Myself…, Claudia Aboudi, level 5 local guide at the center of the picture below and Minette Lontsie, level 7 local guide at the right.
After presentation, I took the floor to share my experience about my recent participation to the 2018 connect live event. we discussed about oifferent aspect of connect live event and activities held during those three days in San Francisco. Knowing that I’m under a NDA signed, I told them that I was not able to go further in explications about google product and encourage them to use Local Guide Connect platform if they have any question or interrogations regarding Google Maps or Google innovations solutions.
As you can see on the picture, it’s was also an occasion for me to share my gifts with participants. They were so happy to receive those gifts. Thank you to connect live team who provided me those donations.
It’s was also the occasion to talk about following topic.
Google Maps. We discussed about difficulties to add missing places to the maps.
Google Maps Review: Importance of adding objective review and introduction of hashtags for particular review topics. Encouragements were made to avoid SPAM review and avoid adding.
Google Street View. The THETA V camera was presented to participant. The possibility to borrow this camera to fellow community member was highlighted.
Local Guides Connect Platform. Encouragements were made to participants to use this platform to share their knowledge, ask question to Googler or find solution about their inquiries.
Local Guides Meetups. We exchanged about meetup organization. Importance of regular meetup organization and the possibility of organizing a meetup in Edea (town situated a few kilometers from Douala).
We rounded up discussions at 18:30 because of the dark, we were not able to go for a Photowalk as announced in the meetup agenda.
The date of the November 25, 2018 was chosen for the next Photowalk meetup. Details of this meetup will be communicated in local guide connect website.
So beautiful that you wanted to share immediately your experience about Connect Live with the community through a Meet-up. I can believe that, with so many things to talk about, you didn’t had time for the photowalk, so it’s good that you are already planning a new date.
Will it be a 360 photowalk?
On a personal note, it was great to meet you at Connect Live
C’était vraiment sympa. Merci d’avoir donné de ton temps pour partager ton expérience du Connect Live à San Francisco. Rendez vous les 25 pour le prochain meetup.
Unfortunately it’s not yet approved on the website.
But you can joined us bellow are details. Let me know also if you want to join our WhatsApp group?

Hello dear fellow Local Guides from Douala - Cameroon.
We are organizing a Photo Walk meetup in Banajo (Douala), a great opportunity to contribute to google maps by adding nice pictures and 360° photos of our town. During this meetup, we will be adding missing places (and of course their pictures) and correcting spams.
For every one attending, this will be a great occasion to share with you experience about taking 360° images using a mobile phone (Android & IOS) thru Street View App, a designated 360° camera (Theta V or LG) or a DSLR Camera.
After welcome note and acquaintance, we will organize together and itinerary from Bonajo Post office to Chez KIKI at Bali. Once at Bali, we will seat to take a refreshment to close the meetup.
Please try to be on time, all participating will have to bare their own expenses on travelling, food, etc… We hope to see all of you as we are doing our best to build our community in the best way possible.
Date: Sunday 25th November 2018
Time: 2 PM
Departure place: Bonajo post office – Douala
Who should attend: Everyone is welcome. Local Guides from any part of Cameroon can join us and of course new members too.
