RECAP: Diwali Festival Bazaar Walk, Tulshibaug, Pune

Diwali Market Walk Recap

Hello Local Guides,

Wishing you and your family and loved ones a very happy Diwali and prosperous New Year!!

We had a slight change in location and date for this meet-up because I wanted to look at a vibrant, most happening market during Diwali in Pune. Although we all knew that it would be the most crowded place on earth that weekend, we chose a small but lively location to feel the vibes within the locality. So we visited Tulshibaug Shri Ram Mandir and surrounding market in Tulshibaug and Mahatma Phule Market, or famously known as Mandai (means market in Marathi local language) area.

New updated Meet-up details:

Date: October 26, 2024, 5 PM IST

Location: Tulshibaug and Mandai area, Pune

In - Person Attendees: @TusharSuradkar , @ShubhamWaman , @Dhanu_20 , and Ajit (host)
Topic: Supporting Local Businesses
Highlights:

  • Tushar was the early bird arriving at the designated location near Shani Maruti Mandir to gather. Dhananjay and Shubham arrived later, respectively. We got refreshed with the cup of tea and moved on.

  • We explored the vibrant Diwali market at Tulshibaug, known for its wide variety of traditional Maharashtrian decorations, handicrafts, and sweets. It is located just opposite of the famous Vishrambaug Wada of Peshavas.

  • While walking along, there were several stalls selling handmade diyas, lanterns, rangoli colors, and other festive items, and the locals were busy purchasing the same.
  • We mostly raomed around Shri Ram Mandir and the shops around the premises.

  • We also checked a new function of Google Lens in the Google Maps and searched a few clothing stores and restaurants closeby.

  • We enjoyed the lively atmosphere and interacted with some vendors, enquiring about prices and selling.
  • The shops around that were full of local metalware items, exclusively from brass, designed for pujas and celebrations.

  • We also exchanged some stickers and Diwali Greeting cards goodies with eachother.
  • We had a video conference call with virtual attendees and showed them around the premises.

  • At around 6:30 PM IST, we dispersed after enjoying a nice, lively market walk.
