Dindigul Fort is the landmark of Dindigul City, Tamilnadu State, India. The name Dindigul was derived from this hill on which fort is situated.
History:
Dindigul fort was built in 17th-century on hill fort by a king named ‘Madurai Nayak’ in 1605. This fort and the city was ruled by great kings and empires such as Pandiyan, Chola, Pallava. Later in 18th century the fort passed on to Kingdom of Mysore and then to Naicker empires, after which TIPU SULTAN & HIDER ALI ruled this kingdom.
In 1799 it went to the control of the British
East India Company.

There is an abandoned temple on its peak. It also has few cannons sealed with balls inside, which was installed by British. Fort still has remains of rooms used by kings, jails and more.lt has exotic views from the top, complete view of the city and magnificient sculptures.
Some other things like ponds, fortified walls, sceneic views, spy holes make this place even more awsomatic !
