{Recap} Contributing On Connect #Communitylive2020 Session D-4

Hello Local Guides,

The weekend with #CommunityLive2020 was full of thrill, excitement and happiness for the whole community, When we participated in the first Unofficial Mega Event which was powered by Local Guides for Local Guides. We all are thankful to @AdrianLunsong who was the mastermind and real hero behind all these fun and excitement.

We contributed in many great sessions with great topics, such as Photography, Clean the maps, Accessibility, Clean the world, Supporting Local Businesses, & Travel Quiz Meet-ups, and many others, in English and in other languages.

One of these topics was Contributing on Connect, which was hosted twice in different timings during these two days of Mega Event.

These were breakout sessions, D4 & H3. Today I want to share with you about D4 session, which was hosted in Urdu & Hindi Language

(These both languages are almost similar with some small differences).

The great success of this Session was just because of my wonderful team mates Riya, Tushar and Falguni who were there with their presentations and helpful tips for all attendees.

Breakout session was started with the introduction of team who will share their secrets to create a helpful and amazing connect post in three different categories :

  1. Travel
  2. Food
  3. Supporting Local Businesses

Few months ago, me and @JaneBurunina hosted a meet-up for Celebrating Fourth Anniversary of Connect, and we prepared a presentation, in which we showed a story of Connect’s Journey so far.

It was a perfect presentation so I present it with some updates like Guiding Stars, some new challenges and new initiatives by Local Guides.

I would like to Thanks Jane to be a part of our team, even though she couldn’t understand Urdu or Hindi, but her presence encouraged us a lot.

While presenting I also discussed how connect posts can be helpful to others which we write with helpful links, beautiful photos and experience.

It is very beneficial for new / old local guides those who wants information about such topics or places.

Another important point which I mentioned was writing posts or Google maps reviews based on personal experience, like writing a small story and sharing vibes which you felt there.

After my presentation, Firstly we invited @RiyaM Connect Live 2019 attendee and a wonderful friend, who is very famous for her food posts, that’s why we want to learn the secret behind her amazing food posts.

As she one to one, shared her tips and tricks for writing a captivating post on connect. She talked about a few set of rules, every writer should abide by, at first. She then illuminated steps one should always keep in mind before and while writing a food post on connect. She described everything in depth, sharing plenty of knowledge with everyone present.

She even highlighted the importance of original content on connect and how essential it is to keep learning and reading as much as possible, which eventually helps us enrich our vocabulary as well as knowledge. She specially mentioned and I quote ‘always tell a story, when writing a post.’ I absolutely agree, people love reading experiences and stories.

Lastly she shared with us all some helpful tools one can make use of and are a gem for every writer. Hoping her tips and tricks motivate and help local guides in enhancing their writing abilities.

After Riya, we had @TusharSuradkar , we call him Bullet train because he is unstoppable on Connect, with 275 posts in just a few months, which is really remarkable, and recently featured as a Guiding Star on Connect.

He shared several amazing and practical tips based on the experience gathered during extensive traveling and writing travel-related posts on LG Connect.

The foremost advice that Tushar gave was to avoid including common knowledge, facts and figures about the place since these are readily available elsewhere and the reader has most likely already researched the place well before deciding to travel.

Try to include your own experience at the palace and give some updates or changes that have occurred recently at the place like road diversion when traveling to the place, parking facilities, ticketing and tour guides, and so on that may have changed post-COVID.

Our last but not least Speaker and amazing Local Guide @FalguniP ,who is very passionate about helping small businesses in her area, that’s the quality by which She featured as a Guiding Star and I believe she truly deserved it

She presented how local guides can write post for supporting small businesses on different topics like food and drinks (some unique food, amazing local restaurants, traditional market) how tos (share useful tips for other local guides which can help local businesses) local stories (all other things like a experience with local business, storytelling, sharing lists etc)

She also mentioned the advantages of writing a post to support local business as it inspires others and shared some examples too.

We had a question answer session where few questions were asked to Me, Riya , Tushar and Falguni regarding Accessibility and small business.

I am thankful to all who joined this breakout session, even though it was midnight in India and Pakistan, but they stayed with us with full enthusiasm and energy. You can enjoy some best moments in This Album and Complete recording of the session here .

I appreciate your kind words @TusharSuradkar !

Indeed I’m attending some Local Guides and Crowdsource meet-ups in Urdu, Hindi and in another languages when my friends invite me. I’m very familiar with these topics and can easy understand what’s conversation about. It’s not too complicated to me to share my experience and some motivation words with attendees. I’m happy to help!

@TusharSuradkar

The one who has been constantly sharing the travel stories and information about Accessibility shares how naturally he put ups all the post based on his experience
