It was a privilege to be part of the connect live Hyderabad event yesterday. It was an all day event at the Park hotel.
We met all the top local guides in Hyderabad. There were people from all walks of life and all age groups. There were sessions on how to make maps better, tips for taking better photos, how maps is changing the lives of businesses and people, the active vibrant local guides community in Hyderabad etc. The videos and the interview with the owner of Nayyab hotel (home of amazing biryanis in the old city, near Charminar) were so inspiring. It was so good to meet and make friends with amazing people and the people behind the amazing product Google maps that is bringing the world together and changing lives.
Not to forget the amazing food!! The live music, the badges, everything was just perfect.
It made me feel so valued as a contributor on google maps and all these years of contributions worthwhile. I hope to connect better with the other active local guides in my area and play my role in organizing meetups. Thanks Google for organizing this!
Thanks @VasT for your comments, indded they were delicious, like everything else!
The most valuable part of it for me was the session with the meetups organizers, I was unaware that such a vibrant community of local guides already existed in Hyderabad who had done 80+ meetups in the past! It kind of came alive for me.
Guess it gives a much better motivation to know there are so many like minded people with shared interests, and we have an opportunity to easily organize our own meetups and explore the food, culture, museums etc in the surrounding areas with them and make new friends at the same time. So this is an opportunity I will definitely be using in the near future.
Thank you for your reply @joybose , I can only imagine how motivating it must have been. You can organize your meet-up as well! Once your meet-up is approved, it will automatically appear as a post in the Meet-ups topic section for other Local Guides to participate. You can take a look at this post: How to Prepare for a Meet-up Submission. I hope you have found this information useful and we get to see more of you!
