Recap Coffee and Hanami Meetup at Starbucks Tokyo

Hey Guys,

Last Saturday we had a coffee meetup at the World’s biggest and newest Starbucks Reserve Roastery.

You can check out the meetup page here: Coffee Meetup at Starbucks

First of all, this is no ordinary next door Starbucks where you can just walk in. We need to collect a ticket in advance and then enter when our number comes. So, I went a little earlier at 2 pm to collect the tickets for meetup members. But unfortunately, they had the policy of one ticket per person. So I convinced strangers to help me and ultimately, I managed to get 4 tickets. The meetup was to start at 4 pm so I was hoping that the 2-hour wait should be enough. Our tickets entry numbers were over 7,000.

I came back at 4 pm and was a little disappointed that the numbers hadn’t moved much and were still in the 5,000 range. @KimberlyAnnG , @YasumiKikuchi san and Mami san joined me at around 5 pm

While we waited to enter the Starbucks, we decided to enjoy the Sakura at Meguro river. Meguro river is a famous sight for cherry blossom in Tokyo.

The river looks beautiful with the lanterns lit. You can see a reflection of Cherry blossom and the lanterns in the evening river. The experience is surreal. I cannot express in words the beauty of this sight, you truly need to be there to experience.

You can find more pictures of the Sakura viewing pictures in the attached Google album. It’s beautiful.

While we waited and enjoyed the Sakura. The number of people ahead of us in line was still huge. Probably it was because of the people who came to view the Cherry Blossom in Nakameguro. We decided to visit a nearby restaurant called Pizza Forno Cafe in Nakameguro. We enjoyed their delicious pizzas and charged our phones. Of course, being local guides we also clicked pictures to add information to the maps.

We finally were able to enter the Roastery at around 8:30 pm. I guess it was worth the wait but we were also very tired by the time we entered. We waited more than 6 hours just to get in. It was a tough and unexpected task.

We tried some drinks and food inside Starbucks and were not disappointed. They had some Reserve roastery only Coffee options which were out of the world and very flavorful. The pastries were also decadent and mouth-watering.

Kim and I also met a collector of Starbucks cards while we waited to get our food. This person had a book with hundreds of Starbucks cards collected in different countries. I was really impressed with his collection.

We spent some more time checking out the different floors in the Starbucks.

We also tasted some tea in the Teavana tea room. It was a fun experience overall.

Maybe I will go there again soon once the crowd is less. It is truly an engaging and enjoyable experience except for the horrible wait.

@HimanshiS thank you so much for arranging this meet up! There is no way on earth that I ever would have made it there had you not gone as early as you did to collect tickets for us all!

It ended up being a very entertaining wait with all of the chatting, photo taking, laughing and searching the neighborhood for a warm place to charge phones and have a hot drink.

Anytime and anywhere that local guides get together, fun is sure to follow! Even a cold rain at the end of the evening while we waited in The physical line could not stop this determined group of Local Guides!

Sharing the description for my “coffee”…

Cascara Lemon Sour

Starbucks Reserve©️ cold brew shaking with maple syrup and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Garnished with a lemon peel maraschino cherry and cascara sugar topping.

1,200 yen = $10.74 US

While that may sound pricey for a “cup of coffee”, it is most definitely not for a mixed drink. Especially one with this much creativity. Delicious!

What a great recap, @HimanshiS !

It looks like such a fun time and the Reserve Roastery looks so interesting. I’m sad I couldn’t join you that day but I hope to go visit some day.

Hello @HimanshiS

Thank you for sentences of nice pictures and easy-to-understand at that time:cherry_blossom::memo:! There will not be so many experiences to wait more than six hours! It is one of the traditional culture of Japan:joy:! I thank you for waiting patiently even if we are significantly delayed. Everything was unusual! Your Starbucks Card Collection is so beautiful. And the smell of tea in the tea room, which is a feature of the Japanese branch, was enjoyed forever:tea:.

I like the cherry blossoms of Meguro River in Tokyo. I want you to see the beautiful cherry blossoms near Nakameguro Station in the south further next time🌸.

I also explain coffee☕.

Whiskey barrel aged coffee

This is the Starbucks Reserve billboard menu. The coffee beans were put in a whiskey barrel and aged, and the beans were impregnated with the whiskey aroma. This is the same as aging whiskey. Whiskey also changes the taste by changing the type of barrel, and mixes it to make a product.

1,200 yen = $10.74 US

Your meet-up are calm and valuable🙏!
