[RECAP] Chat: Cognitive Accessibility

Every day offers an opportunity to continue the #OneAccessibility efforts. Last weekend, some members of the Imo State local guides came together to have a conversation on cognitive accessibility. During our meetup, we met another group of individuals talking about mental health and merged to have a bigger conversation on the topic.

We talked about cognitive accessibility and later on, ways we could use Google Maps to create a more accessible community. Since this area of accessibility is not as widely known, we agreed that a solution to this is that we could use Google Maps to create a list of places and resources that create awareness or offer support for people with mental disabilities. Having a platform like Google Map connects one with numerous resources in the area and is often search-friendly.

Another way is to have more discussions, like we did, to create an environment of understanding. The meetup was quite intimate and took place at DiCentra Bar & Grill (found out about this hidden gem)!

We wrapped up the meetup by talking about Connect Live 2020 and the application process - ways to stand out and generally improving our contributions as a community.

Congratulations @ChinonsoOnukwugha for this Meet-up. I apologise for my inability to attend. Mental health is critical to human existence and we are just learning about the importance in this part of the world. This conversation needs to continue in order to create more awareness.

Quite nice of you to create a list of centres where citizens can get help.

Thank you for sharing.

@Jesi @KashifMisidia @PennyChristie @JaneBurunina may also wish to create similar list in their cities.
