On Sunday 15th a few Local Guides (Eng, Penny, Terry, Greg, Ananda, Kelvin and myself) meet at the Box Hill Camera Market which is a market of second hand camera equipment held twice a year at Box Hill Town Hall which is a magnificent old architecture heritage building near the old centre of Box Hill before the station and Centro took over the prime position. After the market we visited Box Hill Gardens following a few back streets partly to see if we could find any interesting Street Art but also play with the AR Maps Navigation. In the park we discovered play areas, a duck pond with bridge, a huge modern adventure playground, sporting facilities, a couple of monuments and accessible unisex toilets. Then we walked back up through Centro to Cambridge Street where we settled into Tien Dat a Vietnamese restaurant where we all had an enjoyable lunch. After lunch we spirited ourselves off to The Camera Exchange which had recently moved out of the city into a factory near Box Hill which is an absolute cornucopia of old and new camera equipment. If you need something there’s a fair chance these guys have got it but it may take them a little while to find it. After Camera Exchange we headed back to the Centro and visited Cafe Faducci which I would describe as a fake Italian cafe (it isn’t run by Italians).
A fun day was had by everyone and plenty of us parted with some hard earned for that bit of camera equipment we’ll never need until the day we’ve got enough junk to run our own market stall.
